April 18 was declared a day of mourning in the Republic of Tuva. As Newslab reported earlier, six people died in a car accident at the highway, which connects Kyzyl and Ak-Dovurak yesterday afternoon. Five people including the driver died at the accident site. Three passengers of a Toyota minibus, owned by a 32-year-old driver, were taken to hospital, where one more woman passenger died.
Sholban Kara-ool, head of the republic, who is away on a business trip in Moscow at the moment, condoled with the relatives of the family, relatives and friends of those involved in the car accident and declared April 18 a day of mourning in Tuva.
The cause of the car accident was a tire burst, which led to driving of the minibus onto the oncoming lane and going off the road down to the ditch, the Public Safety Council of Tuva reported. Investigation of the car accident is being carried out.
