Krasnoyarsk Territory Deputy Governor Sergey Sokol confirmed his resignation officially on Friday. He accepted the offer to assume the post of the first deputy governor of the Irkutsk Region, Sokol reported at the meeting with reporters on April 25.
He plans to leave for Irkutsk on April 28, which is approved by Krasnoyarsk Governor Alexander Khloponin.
According to Sokol, he considers his appointment as the evidence of trust to the Krasnoyarsk Territory. "The Irkutsk Region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory have much in common: the construction of Boguchany HEPS, VSTO oil pumpline and forest terminals. As the two regions have a lot of aspects in common, we have already agreed that Krasnoyarsk Governor Alexander Khloponin and acting governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Yesipovsky will hold a consultation on issues, which both the regions are interested in, in May 2008," Sokol said.
Sergey Sokol would not disclose who would assume his post. He added that at first he would leave for Irkutsk alone. As soon as he settles everything there, his wife and child will move to his place.
Sokol said he hoped that Irkutsk parliament would approve his appointment until October.
