Alexander Akimov, deputy head of the Federal Forestry Agency, arrived in Krasnoyarsk on a working visit. The goal of his visit was to check up the preparedness of the Krasnoyarsk Territory for forest fire season, the Krasnoyarsk Department of Natural Resources and Forestry reported.
A meeting with participation of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Forestry Agency, Ministry for Emergencies, the Krasnoyarsk Territory Interior Department, federal regulatory agency for consumer right's protection and healthcare Rosprirodnadzor, the regional air base of forest protection, took place in the regional administration. The meeting was held by Krasnoyarsk Deputy Governor Andrey Gnezdilov. All the emergency services involved in firefighting reported about their preparedness for the forest fire season 2008 to the federal official.
As for April 28, 65 forest fires, 1,090.6 hectares in area, were registered in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. 137 forest fires, 1900 hectares in area, had been registered for the same period in 2007. The majority of fires broke out in Yermakovo District – 26 fires, 680 hectares in area. A her state of readiness was declared in Yermakovo District by the decision of the District Commission on Prevention and Liquidation of Emergencies, Fire Safety and Water Safety on April 25.
