NAME

     LASAGNA-4 - Simple cheese-and-tomato lasagna
     This is Lasagna the way my mother makes it.

INGREDIENTS (Serves 6-8)

     500 g     italian sausage
     500 g     ground beef
     2         stalks celery, chopped
     2         carrots, chopped
     1         large onion, chopped
     1 kg      canned Italian tomatoes
     400 g     tomato paste
     10        lasagna noodles, cooked
     2.5 ml    salt
     10 ml     oregano
     1 ml      pepper
     500 g     mozzarella cheese, shredded
     1         garlic clove
     750 g     cottage cheese
     2         eggs, beaten
     100 g     parmesan cheese
     30 ml     parsley

PROCEDURE

          (1)  Combine meat, celery, carrots, onion, garlic; cook
               till soft.
          (2)  Add tomatoes, tomato  paste,  salt,  oregano,  and
               pepper. Simmer.
          (3)  Mix together the cottage  cheese,  eggs,  parmesan
               cheese and parsley.
          (4)  Layer  meat  sauce,  cheese  mixture,   mozzarella
               cheese,  and  cooked  lasagna  noodles in a baking
               dish.
          (5)  Bake at 190 deg. C  for  30  minutes.  10  minutes
               before it is done, top with additional cheese.

NOTES

     Freezes well.

RATING

     Difficulty: easy.  Time: 30 minutes preparation, 30  minutes
     baking.  Precision: approximate measurement OK.
