I have a conundrum to propose. Suppose a siamese twin kills someone. Is the other subject to the death penalty?

Just for the record, his tested IQ is 90 in school and according to the Atkin's Decision, he has met the conditions of not being considered retarded. But some how his lawyers think this decision does not apply to him. His IQ has supposedly dropped.

By the way Matt I'm glad you live in Canada more than you are.

Bill, Why is it that people like you are so eager to deal out death and punishment? Im sure if it were your son or brother you would feel different. Let me guess? You consider yourself a Christian, right? People like you have more in common with the fundamentalist Islam facist a-holes than you do with real, critical thinking Americans.

Aside from that, if the law states that we cannot execute the mentally retarded or insane, then he needs to take one last test that proves he either is or isnt. If he isnt, he needs to be executed.

Im with you Matt. You stay proud honey. Im glad my Australian flag is flying high and we have NEVER had the death penalty - is our crime rate high? NO. So let's see. Does execution deter crime?. Dong the answer is NO.

Are there are a large even moderate percentage of middle / upper class white or black Americans on death row?. Dong the answer would be NO to that one too.

Is the MAJORITY of people on death row low income caucasians , poorly eductated, and mixed races, ie blacks, latino, hispanics.

Mr Gulf War Vet from LV. I guess its just another body right.

Well you all sound a bit red neck to me, except you Matt. have a good day people and try to think of something nice instead of pure hatred.

Well, just goes to show you that you don't know as much as you think you do. I've been a homicide cop since 1965, retired a few years ago. No, I'm not a Christian I am a Deist. Yes, my daughter was killed. I've had to tell lots of folks that someone killed members of their family, including my own. I have no problems with following the law and have never had a case of mine reversed for anything that I did or didn't do. I just wish the defense had to follow the same rules as does the prosecution.

If you wish to learn something before you spout off, read the Atkins Decision and you will find out that I am totally correct. A few years ago I testified in a Alabama appeals case, where the inmate's IQ kept dropping.--My statement was something like:'well we are going to give you another IQ test and if you pass this one you are going to be executed, if not you will get life.' Does it surprise you that the scores went down?

Yes, the scores can and are faked and anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar and an idiot.

By the way I have also helped several inmates get off death row. Yes, I am proud of that also.

Australia is a federation of States. The Federal Government abolished the death penalty in 1973: Death Penalty Abolition Act 1973 (Cth). All Australian States and Territories have abolished the death penalty.

jurisdiction last execution abolition
Queensland 1913 1922
New South Wales 1940 1985(*)
Tasmania 1946 1968
Commonwealth nil 1973
ACT nil 1973
Northern Territory 1952 1973
Victoria 1967 1975
South Australia 1964 1976
Western Australia 1964 1984

(*) Though the death penalty for murder was abolished in NSW in 1955, NSW was the last state to completely abolish the death penalty when in 1985 capital punishment was abolished for treason and piracy: Crimes Amendment (Death Penalty Abolition) Act 1985 (NSW

DONG the stupidity of some folks is only exceeded by their stupidity... Did you think that nobody knew the truth?

We don't have a working death penalty in the United States. When it can take 15, 20, and even more years before someone is put to death, that is not a real death penalty.

I would be willing to let any country that wants our murders, take them. Charles Ng was held by Canada and when they found out that the US wouldn't drop the death penalty for his trial, they had a choice: deport him to the US or let a serial murder/torturer go free in Canada. Guess what, Canada deported him because they didn't want him.

There are crimes that are committed that are so heinous, that the perpetrators should be given the ultimate penalty, that of death.

The problem with the death penalty is that the justice system is a human institution and as such it is subject to error. If you execute even one innocent person is it worthwhile? If you say it's a cost of doing business in the justice system, how does that make you any better than the actual killers on death row? I understand the logic of the death penalty, but I just can't support it for the possibility that someone might be mistakenly executed.

I'd bring back hanging. We have gone far to long worrying about how the criminal feels.Lowlives like this should be hung. With all of the modern day technology we have to prove guilt, there is no reason to continue this asinine process of appeal, after appeal, after apeal. Is that cruel and unusual? Fine, put a bullet hole in the back of their head, it'll be quick, and since people get shot all the time it won't be unusual. I'm tired of having my tax dollars being spent on feeding scum like this three times a day as well as all the other things they get while sitting in jail. For the record I am not religious.

Get this murderer out of the gene pool. Every day he lives is an insult to the human race.

I agree with Irene Jurscaga, it is very sad he has lived this long. Hopefully this itme the state of Virginia will get it right and execute this man without further delay. Justice needs to be served.

"They're like roaches. You have to kill them all or what's the point."

Executions should be severly painful, slow, and public to deter other would be criminals...and more frequent executions, less appeals, and no coddling of these animals.

lol... Looking at the country I don't think you are going to find as many critical thinkers as you believe there are...
