Lightning Threatens Parts Of Bay Area

The possibility of lightning Saturday afternoon in parts of the Bay Area has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning for the region.

Thunderstorms developed off the Central Coast late Saturday morning, and lightning has been reported in the Monterey Bay area, said National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Tentinger.

The storms are moving northeast, and the red flag warning applies to the eastern and southern portions of the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as the entire Monterey Bay area, until 11 p.m. Saturday night.
