So, we will soon ALL, as embryos, be screened for deseases of every sort. And if found "defective", will be murdered on-the-spot.

I hardly consider this a step toward making this world a better place.

Hey genius, they removed the gene rather than killing the baby.

LOL, I bet your some wacky religious zealot. For your information, many people who know that their kids are genetically defective, carry them to term.(Even kids with things like down syndrome)
It is the PARENT'S CHOICE, to keep the baby or not.
NOT YOURS or your made up "god"

So, fock off basically, this is a wonderful moment for mankind.

Has anyone ever told you onion is good for you? Unless you mix it with an Oreo cookie, then it's not good for the body.

And so it begins. Super genetically enhanced people, the smartest and most athletic, not to mention better looking.

i personally would not want to bring a child into this world knowing he/she could not function or have a normal life. why would i want my child to suffer? the problem is when people have to determine what they believe "normal" to be. if my child could not be productive, live on their own, take care of themselves and maybe a family someday, i would not want them to have to suffer that fate. i would love him or her enough not to have them born. what happens to my child when i die. who takes care of my sick child then who is an adult? what a sad life. i would not want to live like that. i could only imagine my child would not either. i have not ever been faced with that decision, so who knows how i truly would react if faced with that situation. thank God I have not.

Well, you're still a very rough alpha sketch, obviously, one day we'll get something decent!

And I never said that brave new world of perfect people was bad, I welcome it. But it's unlikely to be in our lifetime. Then after that, it's the next step, artificial life, to surpass the limits of life.

You are not God, just keep in mind it could be that so called normal child could be hit by a car, and left handicapped, would you kill them because they were not normal anymore? You should not kill an unborn child, no one killed you, and you are as dumb as a door knocker.

What a joke. Just another scheme to make us feel immortal.

The baby could get hit by a car for godsakes.

People are so stupid.

How do you define personhood?

Is it our ability to think? Obviously, not since embryos have no brains, and you seem to believe that embryos are people. If we are talking about a fetus that had developed even a little brain it could be argued that it is thinking, just at that point the thoughts are very primitive and can be built on later to achieve the level or type of thinking that defines personhood.

I suppose you'll probably say it's being a human being. In other words having human DNA. So you define personhood based on having cells that contain a clump of chemicals? What if there was an alien race that was just as intelligent as us? Are they still not people because they don't have human DNA? I feel sorry for the galaxy if people like you are going to lead the human race in the future.

I know I'm making a lot of assumptions about your beliefs. I apologize if I'm wrong, and please correct me if I am.

Furthermore, regardless of the reason the other embryos were killed let's keep in mind that in every case of artificial insemination several eggs are made, and usually only one is kept. The others are destroyed.
Well I never

It would have been nice if I could have been tested before I was born for breast cancer. Then I wouldn't be going thru bad times now with breast cancer at 40.
