                 This is a pic of me playing chess at the famous Golders Green monthly quickplay tournament, about a couple of years ago.

Played for my school and my university in the 1970s, Cheshire and North Wales Chess Champion 1980 and 1990 (over the board). I have played both Nigel Short - when he was an up-and-coming youngster, in a quickplay tournament - and Garry Kasparov - when he took on the entire Cheshire & North Wales side simultaneously. I was once offered the chance to play something like board 20 for the Wales team against Ireland. I gave up competive chess in 1992, and gradually drifted back to it this decade. Now proud co-captain of the Gameknot England side.
Gameknot players I have met in real life are frebec - I have played in tournaments locally, grobler, who was at university with me, theoden123, who I coached when he was a teenager, adamraoof, as I used to go to his Golders Green quickplay tournaments, and whizzkid111, who used to play in these tournaments.

I also scored 100% in my group of the 37th GK tournament, against mongosyke (1685), matarey (1620) and blackice (1391), but I guess my finest hour (or should I say finest 20 minutes!) on Gameknot was beating sirius_b (2270) in this 10 minute game- 1. e4 c5 2.
