Fire Blazes At Vegas' Monte Carlo Resort

i was there, i loved it so sad

over built las vegas could be in for a rash of INSURANCE FIRES! better call in CSI LAS VEGAS.

Who cares .... Mandalay Bay is sooo much better.

This is one of our favorite hotels on the Strip.

Not to fancy & uptight, but beautiful.

Right across the street from a WalGreens:)

And our room had a great view of the Strip at night.

Please tell me they are not shutting down!!!

i loved las vegas. the monte carlo was so cute, this is so sad.

I stayed there in 2001. The damage dosent look all that bad, I say it will be back in normal operation soon, thats just the Las Vegas way, it bounces back. No where near as bad as the old MGM Grand fire that killed all those people.

I work on the Strip here in Vegas.. You will all be happy to know that 90% of this fire was EXTERNAL ONLY. Actual rooms and interior only received water damage. I dont expect it will be out of commission to long.

Yeah, just architectural foam burned on the facade and a ledge below. Nobody was even injured. It's crazy how the news media on the East Coast blew it out of proportion. They were saying that 4 hotels were evacuated on Fox!

I was on my way to wal mart and noticed the fire from the I-15 south. Other than the noticeable smoke it wasn't a huge giant blaze. Like the other person said it was mostly external so not much of the inside was damaged i presume.
At least it was at the top of the hotel, if it was on the bottom in the casino...we would be in a lot worse shape.

iv never been there, but it looked like a pretty decent hotel. id feel really bad if they shut it down. PLEASE dont shut it down!!!

I, too, am in Vegas and our office got a kick out of the reports coming off of CNN and Fox Cable about this. They acted as if Vegas was burning down!! I think it was CNN that actually said the Bellagio and NYNY was also on fire!! I even got emails from friends back east and all started with "OMG!!.." I was impressed on how fast they FD was able to put the fire out. They're lucky this didn't happen next weekend when not a single extra hotel room will be available.

Were you stuck in that traffic jam on 15? We got a kick out of that, too! The traffic was at a stand still.

I always thought the Monte Carlo was a boring hotel; and even if it was on teh ground floors where the casino is, I doubt that would make too much of a dent in their quarterly profits. Intead of the MGM Mirage Corporation making $130,000,000 dollars, the profits would only be $125,000,000!!!

We have stayed at the Monte Carlo and just loved it.

my son was there,, he had some of his guys in the hotel on the 23rd floor,, they were evacuated by stairs and could smell smoke. but all went smoothly. like it is suppose to..MSM got it wrong again,, just like 90% of what they speculate news..

Thank you for clarifying the reports Vegas Residents. I will be there next week for a trade show and glad that I don't have to book another room somewhere else. Those news guys really made it look bad.

was just in vegas, my niece works at bally's. glad to hear no one was injured. saw it on the net, not the news - but i'm sure the whole city got evacuated!! where's grissom when you need him!!

I am a "Welder" The first I heard of this was "We do not know how the fire started," but there were "Welders" on the Roof" "IF "'this fire was caused by "Welders" They had no Safety Tech there.[For "Fire Watch"] The Supervisor probably said "Go fix It" I would like to know More.

Fire watch sucks.lol

But, the money is good.
