Please read post 226. Mind you if this place is so crime ridden and the tenants are happy to have the police presence then what's the problem? I know of many neighborhoods in Albany that would be glad to have this. Private citizens and the police need to band together to help eliminate crime and the criminals not work against one another. Do you honestly really think the citizens of this country would tolerate a regimine such as the nazis? I don't think it would ever come close to happening as there would be one hell of an uprising.  (Thursday | post #253)

Pregnant Cat Brutally Killed In Gresham

Yea, but most people in jail hate people who kill animals, if you know what I mean. Did you ever read about the guard in jail who killed 5 kittens? The inmates were so upset and angry and guess who lost his job!  (Thursday | post #4)

Not another sick ticket out on the streets! Whoever is doing this is evil and a vicious monster and needs to be put in jail where he'll receive his punishment for his henious deeds.  (Wednesday | post #1)

Mind you, even private citizens in Germany were killing the nazis and hiding their guns. they also had to hide their food and personal belongings for fear they would be taken from them. Many buried them in the dirt and used trees as markers. Many germans hated the nazis and felt helpless about the situation they were in and not being able to do anything about it. Question, are you one of those people that complain about the police cause they weren't there when a crime is being committed? Yup, I thought so!  (Wednesday | post #245)

Your comparrison of the nazis' and the police are way off. The nazis were the bad guys just like the criminals here today. They were dictators and were NOT there to protect you. the police here have a job to do and that is to keep the peace not take it away. SHAME ON YOU!!!!  (Wednesday Jun 18 | post #238)

Maybe, just maybe one of those police officers at that checkpoint nabbed a drunk driver and if they hadn't been there, it could have been that drunk that killed your wife in an accident later that night. Be thankful that even thought you got there late (big deal) you got there safe and are alive today to talk about the wonderful time you had. Why is it more important to get somewhere on time than to get there safely? By the way just think about all the drunks that do kill and how unfortunate it is that there just isn't enough police out there to get them all. Or better yet that everyone knew better than to drink and drive.  (Tuesday Jun 17 | post #203)

Good grief - You know if there had been a killing there people would **** where's the cops! They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Just like after 9/11 everybody screams we need more security but when anyone proposes to do anything to improve security they **** and complain. They want to do eye screening at airports but people **** that it's a violation of their rights. People still **** about security going through their luggage, but security can't find dope, contraband and guns without doing a search. People, get real and be glad when the police and other officials are proactive in trying to deter crime. Your life my count on it. Freedom isn't free and if you don't believe me just look at all the graves in our National cemeteries. They made the ultimate sacrifice and you're all complaining over some barriers. Get a grip!!!!!  (Tuesday Jun 17 | post #82)

Female cat peeing everywhere but in litter

Joni and I both do rescues and we make many sacrifices ourselves to take care of these animals. I myself don't go to the movies, bowling, skiing, buy jewelry and do a lot of other thing due to the fact that my first responsibilities is to the animals I rescue. I also deal with many people who say they can't afford to take their cat to the vet or have it altered. Yet I see that they can go out to dinner, go on vacation, buy a magazine subscription, have cable and computer hookups and but the latest gadgets for their kids. But the pet comes last if at all. They are not willing to do without any of these things in order to care for the pet. We have free rabies clinics here for 6 months, twice a month and people still find reason to not have their pet vaccinated. Oh I can't, I need to go to the hairdressers or my son has a game or we're leaving on vacation. Believe me when I say I've heard every excuse and not one is good enough. I offered this couple whose home I've been in many times to vaccinate their cats for distemper and the mans excuse was he didn't want someone traipsing through their house. He has 16 cats that will not be protected cause of his ego, selfishness and arrogance. We can all agree when it comes to food on the table that comes first but I have seen a lot of neglect and I can tell you that never once was it due to the fact that they needed to put food on the table first. If it had I would have gladly helped them do so. But I will not help people pay for what they could do without.  (Sunday Jun 15 | post #152)

Litter training!

Clare - Try getting a second box as some cats will pee in one and poo in another. Many of my cats do this also. Rule of thumb is always have one more litter box more than you have kitties. If that doesn't fix it come on back and we'll try again.  (Thursday Jun 12 | post #2)

A License To Keep Your Cats

First and foremost a mandatory spay/neuter law can work. But it is not a cut and dry solution. The first thing that must be done is a course mandated by the Agriculture and Market Dept. regarding adequate breeding. Gather a group of people such as a vet, a vet tech, someone who does rescue, a lawyer, a police officer, a breeder of dogs, a breeder of cats and a lay person to put together a course. Next make it a law that if your pet is not altered by 6 months of age you would be considered a breeder and hence must take the course. Let the fee cover the expense of the teacher. Then make them register every pet not altered. Have this fee go to a fund for low cost spay/neuter. Mind you make this money non touchable from politicians like Patterson did taking one million out of this fund to balance the budget. Then they must also have every pet licensed (dog or cat) and any offspring. Also they must register any offspring and all animals must be up to date with all shots. Any pet not included or owned by a breeder must be altered. As for saying that breeders don't make any money, well you have a good point but they could always pass the cost onto whoever is buying the offspring. Divided up between 5 to 10 animals would not be difficult. Also let animal control officers do their jobs and let them take a consensus of all pet in their townships. If they don't have a license then they will be given 30 days to comply with either a license to breed or alter the pet. After 30 days if still non compliant then a $500.00 fine would be given and all monies given to the fund. Mind you a $500.00 fine every 30 days until they comply is a good idea. This idea may need a little fine tuning but it's a start in the right direction. Right now all there is is euthanasia and it is only a temporary solution til more are born. We need to stop the pro creation, not to kill what's alive. As for the dangers of felines well we wouldn't have an excessive amount if people were not so ignorant, selfish and greedy. Another point is the Board of Health doesn't have any say regarding your pet inless it has to due with rabies. Those funds should also be available to non profit rescue groups to help alter feral cats as these animals are here due to the years of people abandoning and not altering their pets. We need to fix that problem as it has become a major factor in the pet over population problem. I know this will not make every person fix there pets but it is a start. It's unfortunate we have to make a law to get people to act, but with did this with drunks to. Yes we still have drunks on the road but fewer is better than more. I don't think there is a law on the books that has 100% compliance but every year we would see a decrease in the euthanisa rate and that is what all rescuers work so hard for.  (Wednesday Jun 11 | post #15)

Charge: Cat killed by jealous boyfriend

Your comment shows that you and him have one thing in common and that is lack of COMPASSION!!! Give me a break, he's jealous of a cat??? Come on, what kind of lame brain excuse is that???? So maybe she did give the cat more attention, so what! If that was the case then he should have used his brains and said well maybe this relationship wasn't meant to work. NOT mind you I'll go kill her cat as punishment. Like right if I kill her cat she'll love me more and give me more attention. Come on now!! If my other half killed any of my pets, I can tell you he'd receive the same treatment, in a heartbeat!!! This guy took out his frustration on a poor helpless animal who didn't realise she was the cause of his anger. Would you like being beaten to a pulp? Do you honestly think if someone did that to you that you wouldn't be in pain?? If that's the case then let me have a go at this guy cause he'll be so filled with adreniline that he won't feel a thing! As for our anger, mind you it is VERBAL and our way of letting off steam because we feel helpless that we couldn't do anything to protect her and for how she suffered. As for calling us freaks, you have it all wrong, cause it's this guy who killed the cat that's the freak and so are you for thinking what he did was not all that horrible. Mind you it's proven fact that people who abuse animals go on to children, women and the elderly but you probably think that's okay too! Let me also state that no cat would beat the living pulp out of a person and that is why I love animals more than people. If you think I could love a person that has the capabilities, the lack of compassion this man has and the vicious and vile temper you are sadly mistaken. He's not worthy of love, compassion or the time of day.  (Tuesday Jun 10 | post #177)
