2 More Records Fall During Olympic Trials

Michael Phelps just missed setting another world record at the U.S. Olympic trials.

Even though it wasn't Ryan Lochte vs. Michael Phelps Part III, it was still a nail biter, with Phelps coming just short of his record time. He still made the best time in the 200m freestyle trial at 1.44.10 -- his world record is 1.43.86. He also qualified for the finals in the 200m butterfly.

Landis loses bid to reclaim tour title

Floyd Landis has lost his final chance to retain his 2006 Tour de France title.

Monday's decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport is the last step of a multimillion-dollar process that poked holes in the anti-doping establishment but ultimately left the American cyclist as just another convicted cheater.

U.S. basketball team is more about marketing than Games

This year’s team is pretty darned good. Other than Jason Kidd, there isn’t a player on the roster who’s not either in the prime of his career or just now entering it. I know the 1992 team goes down as the greatest ever assembled (as it probably should) but wouldn’t this team give that team a run for it’s money? The knee-jerk reaction is to say, "No way. Look at all the Hall of Famers on that team.”

New blood in women's tennis manifesting at the All England Club

Venus and Serena Williams have won six of the eight championships contested here at the All England Club this millennium. On Monday, they sailed through to the quarterfinals -- and still, neither has dropped a set.

There has been a Williams sister in seven of those eight finals, and it's looking increasingly likely that there will be another come Sunday. Possibly two.
