No doubt that you're here for the chess sets, but before making any comment on the pieces, let me start by saying the quality of the support on this site, down to the protective individual wrapping of each piece is absolutely top noche.
What is really impressive about this set despite that it's a "classical" Staunton design, it radiates a strong heavy feeling of personality and focused power, the handling and the precision of the carving tell you that it's a high quality piece of work.
Esthetically it's at least as gorgeous the pics of this presentation page. A straight 5, and no turning back.

I ordered this set 11 December and received it on 13 December- THATS QUICK- overall I am very happy with this beautiful set- a couple of pieces could have been sanded a little better in spots and the bridle on one of the rosewood knights could have been finished a little better-but overall I LOVE IT and will enjoy showing it off

This is an absolutely beautiful chess set. The knight is gorgeous, and the quality of work on all pieces is tremendous. The pictures look wonderful, but the pieces are even better once you have them in hand. I strongly recommend this set to anyone looking for a luxury chess set!

I received my Budrosewood set today along with the Rosewood board and Leather storage case. Everything is of first quality and I am delighted. The Knights are very special, quality pieces and the extra touches - the two King finals and the Rook turret caps - are unique. The pieces are very satisfying to move as they are ideally weighted. I recommend this set to anyone that favors a Staunton design as the rewards are both tactile and aesthetic.

I just received my set of The New American in Budrosewood. "Wow"...is the word that came to me instantly upon gazing at this incredible set. The workmanship is absolutely superb, the price very, very reasonable and the service from The Chess Piece was wonderful. I definitely recommend this set to anyone looking for quality and value and recommend The Chess Piece as the ONLY PLACE TO SHOP for quality and more in chess items. Every piece of this set is exquisite. I just could go on and on. Wow!!!

As a dealer & a collector of fine chess equipment, I HIGHLY recommend this set on a number of points. The quality of the wood used in the carving is first rate (no knots, & no stripes in the Ebony or Boxwood), and the carving is what you would expect for a set costing more than twice as much. You will not find a Bishop carved any better regards of the price (the miter and its undercut are in perfect proportion to its size), ANYWHERE in the world today! The symmetry and taper of the Bishop's body is so well balanced it will fit almost perfectly in any size hand. The "little touches" such as the turrent caps for the rooks are not found on even the most expensive sets today, and that is just ONE of the items that makes this set one of the finest Staunton patterns available. The Knight is even more stunning than in the photos, and its original design makes for a striking presence on even the most basic board designs. The slight bevel to the nicely proportioned bases on the pieces gives them stability even for the most heated contests; without leaving them "bottom" heavy as is the case with most "triple weighted" pieces. My only request for the designer, add an alternate final for the King in case the other is lost or damaged. Do yourself a favor and buy this set - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED (and you will probably become the envy of most of your chess playing buddies)!!
