Dear parents, coaches and students of the game:
Please "qaGBenjoy" (the previous word 'enjoy' was written by my cat, Whiskey, to express his excitement!) my stories, poetry and lessons. I sincerely hope that you learn a great deal about the game of chess which I love so dear. I have categorized the lessons so that coaches can teach the lessons and assign awards to their students based on the completion of the levels. I use this approach for my own players. Again these lessons are only meant to introduce the subject matter to the student. It is up to the coaches and parents to look for these concepts in the student's games so that they can assign the awards accordingly. In chess, a lesson not practiced is a lesson not learned.

I would like you to play as often as you can and try to teach others what you have learned. By trying to convey the ideas that you have learned to others, you will make them second nature when you need to execute the ideas in your games. Plus, you might make a friend or two in the process. A win win situation.

If you need a good "free" database to analyze your games. I highly recommend the Chessbase Light software by Chessbase. Click on the following link and you will be brought to the chessbase download page.
  • "Chessbase Light"

If you want a free chess program that runs on windows 98, NT, and XP, I recommend Nagaskaki Chess. Click on the link below to go to the Nagaskaki home page.

If you want a free Winboard compatable Chess database to analyze your games, click on the following link:

If you want a free chess engine for use with the above free (scid) chess database for analysing your games. I recommend Bob Hyatt's Crafty chess engine. It runs on UNIX, Linux, DOS, Windows, OS/2, and now . . . the MacOS.
