Featured Game

Here's the eighth entry in my Featured Game series. You will find on this page:

• A double board puzzle, using a position taken from the game. Find at least fifty ways for jtp and fermy to force mate. You have five minutes. (Okay, I'm kidding...)

Featured Game #8:

Blood, Guts, and Twisted Metal

In the interest of fair and impartial reporting, let me start by saying this was one of nineteen games played by our four combatants during an evening of buggery. 15 of those 19 games were won by JKiller and RMG, a darn good winning percentage. However, there is enough of an unpredictability element in bughouse to where it's not unusual to see the stronger team get brutalized in some games, and this month's contest is a good example of that.

RMG and JKiller get off to a shaky start as fermy, playing Black, obtains a space advantage and a dangerous attack on RMG's king. They are able to survive this phase of the game by using the clocks well, with good strategic sitting to impede fermy's attack. However, then comes Phase Two of the game, a crash-and-burn that leads to fermy and jtp obtaining complete domination on both boards. Here's the game.
