The
World Chess Championship takes place from
26 November to 28 December. Most of the action takes
place in New Delhi, India, where all but
the men's final is played.
On 19 December the two finalists will draw lots
in Teheran, Iran, and play a six-game match
to decide the world champion.
MSO Worldwide will try to give you the results
and crucial analyses as quickly as possible after
the games have finished.
Regulations
The playing system
in the World Championship is an elimination format.
Two players meet in a mini-match, and the winner
continues. The games are played on consecutive days,
except in the 6-game final, where there will be
a rest day after game 3.
If the match is even after the regular games, there
will be a mini-match of 2 fast games to decide the
winner. Both players will have 25 minutes for the
whole game + 10 seconds per move. If this match
is drawn too, there will be another 2-game match,
with 15 minutes + 10 seconds per player. If this
match is drawn as well, there will be a series of
sudden death games, where the first winner will
qualify. In these games, white has 4 minutes on
the clock and Black five minutes and the addition
of 10 seconds after each move.
The tiebreaks will take place on the days following
the regular time control games.
