Ohio unemployment rate soars to 7.2% in July
Unemployment in Ohio rocketed to its highest level in nearly 16 years last month as soaring pump prices took a bite out of the state's service sector, officials said yesterday. The July unemployment rate rose to 7.2 percent - the highest monthly rate since December, 1992 - as 36,000 more Ohioans were added to jobless rolls, according to the state Department of Job and Family Services.
