Bolt Breaks 100-Meter Record, Wins Olympic Gold
My god - he wasn't even *trying* for the last 15 yards and still broke the record. Incredible (Yesterday | post #1)
Yeah I've noticed this, too - not just at trials and semis, but at medal round events. Lots and lots of empty seats. You'd think at least for, say, gymnastics, the government would've packed the house with home team supporters :-) (Wednesday Aug 13 | post #1)
NBC to get Bob Costas out of studio
Agreed - if it wasn't for TiVo and a mute button, the olympics would be unwatchable. The two-bit arm chair cultural "insights " are enough to make me gag. (Saturday Aug 9 | post #2)

Chinese Paper Says Blacks Banned From Bars During Olympics
I did a restricted Google search on the South China Morning Post for the article and found it. Looks like the paper has removed it, but no explanation why. Conveniently, it is still cached on Google until they refresh their indexes, so quick, take a look! http://209.85.141. 104/search?q=cache :ScZtiFqX4BUJ:olym pics.scmp.com/Arti cle.aspx%3Fid%3D13 00+site:scmp.com+o lympics+bars&h l=en&ct=clnk &cd=1&gl=u s (Wednesday Jul 23 | post #176)
Texas-Mexico border braces for Dolly
They closed the South Padre Island Bridge? I would not want to be stuck on one of the islands for this hurricane. (Wednesday Jul 23 | post #1)

15-inches of rain in 24 hours? That's what I call a torrent. (Wednesday Jul 23 | post #1)
Hawaii Considers Four-Day Workweek
I don't mind five days a week, but would be cool to move to a "siesta" model where I can take the middle of the day off for a nap, and then work some more. :-) (Monday Jul 21 | post #6)

What is your price range? Are you trying to stay downtown? Will you have a car? Difficult to recommend without more details. (Jul 17, 2008 | post #3)
Industrial-residential mix causes conflicts in Sunnyvale
"Weatherill and Cheung admit that they took a risk in assuming that the property next door would be used for homes. Weatherill was aware of the noisy generators, but claims he would not have bought if the water tank had been there." I'm going to have to side with Industry on this one. If you buy in an ITR, there's a reason you're getting a relative discount. The same property on the other side of 101 (or Central, or El Camino, moving progressively South) would be at least 15% to 30% higher in cost. Don't blame the folks that were there before you if you don't like the neighborhood. (Jul 16, 2008 | post #1)
Paramedic services could change in Sunnyvale - San Jose Mercury...
What does an ambulance ride cost these days? A neighbor down the street seemse to have a visit once or twice a year (no idea what his condition is). That's got to be pretty pricey. (Jul 11, 2008 | post #1)
