Special Education

The Bloomington Public Schools has a strong commitment to meeting the needs of students with disabilities.  Members of the Board of Education, administrators, teachers, and other staff members work together to develop, support, and maintain outstanding special education programs.  An array of services encompassing all areas of exceptionality has been designed to meet the needs of students from ages three through twenty one.  These services are based on the rights afforded disabled children by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), operate within the framework of Illinois Rules and Regulations to Govern Special Education, and meet the specific needs of District 87's special education students.
