Format and themes

In the Mix is a news magazine program geared toward a teenage audience. Each half-hour episode typically includes several segments devoted to serious issues facing youth, including school violence, mental illness, drugs, employment training and relationships. In addition, the show frequently features interviews with current celebrities, young authors and other newsmakers.

All of the hosts and reporters featured on In the Mix are teens or young adults; several have gone on to careers in the fields of entertainment or journalism.

Current status

As of December 2006, In the Mix continues to be shown nationally on PBS.

In 2003, production on new weekly editions ceased. However, new special episodes are still being filmed periodically and added to the regular broadcast rotation. The show also maintains an active website with episode guides, transcripts and separate sections for teenagers and teachers wishing to use the program as an educational tool.
