'''Loyola''' is a Census-designated_place and an unincorporated town in Santa Clara County, California, United_States. The population was 3,478 at the 2000 census. The town is located between the cities of Cupertino and Los Altos Hills. While ''Loyola'' is unfamiliar to locals, a variant name '''Loyola Corners''' is locally used. The name comes from the area's history as the proposed site for Santa Clara University before the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake. If the plan had come to fruition, the university would have been located in the area of the present-day golf course on Country Club Drive. The Los Altos project succumbed to post-Earthquake delays and financing problems. ==Geography== Image:CAMap-doton-Loyola.pngLoyola is located at {{coor dms|37|21|5|N|122|6|2|W|city}} (37.351391, -122.100526){{GR|1}}.
