STAR Ananda is a national Bengali news channel in India. This channel is co-production of STAR TV and Anandabazar Patrika. It is a 24-hour free-to-air channel, and was launched on 1 June 2005. Introducing a paradigm shift in the broadcast of regional language news, STAR Ananda reflects the heritage of an impressive parentage and provides in-depth and extensive coverage of local, national and global news. STAR Ananda is broadcast by Media Content & Communications Services India Pvt. Ltd. (MCCS), a 74:26 joint venture between ABP TV – a 100% subsidiary of ABP Pvt. Ltd., and STAR News Broadcasting Ltd., wholly-owned subsidiary of the STAR Group; two of the biggest brands in Indian media. Headquartered in Kolkata and housing state-of-the-art production facilities, STAR Ananda boasts an extensive bureau network, bringing to the Bengali viewer unparalleled, comprehensive and incisive news coverage. With an over 40 per cent majority marketshare in the Kolkata and West Bengal markets amongst all news channels in launch week, STAR Ananda continues to consolidate, adequately reflecting the aspirations of the Bengali people. Some of its main programs include STAR Khobor, Hoy ma noy bouma, Ek Dozen golpo, and Hello VIP. "STAR Khobor" is at 9 o'clock in the night. Channel has got some sharp faces of reporters & anchors & producers like Suman, Piu, Reshmi, Amit, Dipak, Ritabrata, Manas, Shiladitya, Pradipto, Bitanu,Amit,Rajat,Sounak. Its ad-sales team of Rajesh, Gautam, Amitosh, Atish, Binu, Trina, have ensured that the channel garner maximum share of the advertising revenues. Hoy ma noy bouma tells you about the various serials which are aired on the main channels like Sony TV, STAR Plus, Zee TV, etc. Ek Dozen Golpo summarizes the news in 12 parts and shows them. During Durga Pujo they also have various countdowns which end on Mahashoshti.
