amazing. Kim and Kay-Hock, you two are good cooks. Thank you very much, for
everything. By far we didn't drink that much beer, than we used to. Greeting

paradise? We did! Now we are real specialists in filling olive-tea-capsules,
bottling lemon wine (you know: one drop for the bottle-one drop for us!) and
smashing wood into pieces. We loved the discussions we had with you and will
always remember you, when we are eating pears ('peers') in Germany. You will

time in your house. For us, this was a short break in our long trip through

suffering a bit easier (we cheated)." (Tom Nieuwenhuis +
Freek Wijbrands,
The Netherlands, 18/3/2006)

"Hey, it's me, Noh-Seop.
First of all, I want to say thank you very much. I stayed in here very
comfortable like home. I really enjoyed every dinner. They were fantastic!!!
I watched a lot of films. The job isn't hard even though sometimes working
alone isn't good... I had lots of time to think about myself. It was really
precious time. About ten days I really relaxed. So I'm worrying about going
back to Korea because it's more competitive. I'll miss the donkeys, sheep
and dogs, especially Kieran. He is smart and good boy. He was with me when I
was working. Thank you for his helping. Thank you Kim and Kay Hock. I really
appreciate your hospitality. All memories in Mengyuan will stay in my mind.
I hope all of your business is going well. Best luck with you, we might meet
some day. Please take care." (Noh-Seop Kim, Korea, 13/10/2005)

all the cooking! Looking forward to see both of you coming to Penang for the
Chinese New Year Reunion in 3 months time!" (JP Wong, Malaysia, 8/10/2005)
"I had a relaxing time at
your house. Living in a house is a luxury in contrast with Backpacker
hostels and I won't have this very often. Donkeys, chicken, sheep, dogs and
some fish were always happy when you were playing with them. The big one
loves rocks, hunting them all day. I used my time here to clean my stuff and
to make plans for the next days. Even if Kim couldn't understand my way of
life, I like it to live today without knowing where to go and where to sleep
the next day. And I believe in me that I will find what to do when I go back
home. Thanks for everything and my first WWOOFing impressions!" (Dirk,
Germany, 7/10/2005)
"What does Mengyuan means
to me? Donkeys for the lawn, 3 puppies, lovely smelly dog and a lot of
movies. Thank you Kay Hock and Kim for 7 days good food and a relaxing
atmosphere. It is weird that people make the most important decisions in the
most bizarre positions. Thank you for let me weed your garden and that I had
a lot of time to think and decide what to do when I go back home." (George,
18/8/2005)
"Thank you for your
generosity. You guys were very helpful! I needed relaxation, when I was in
Bundy, so I wanted to come here. And now I am feeling very good. I could
chill out physically and psychological. In addition I could re-organize my
plan here. It is very excited. Anyway, thank you for everything, where ever
I am, keep in touch! See you." (Kyang Hoon Kim, Korea, 26/6/2005)
"Kay Hock and Kim, you
are two beautiful people. We'll bring all our friends next time. Heaps of
love." (Sue and Soff, 6/2005)

here, but very intensive. Enjoy your life." (Tomek
N., 30/5/2005)
"It was a pleasure to
stay in this house for almost 5 weeks. Actually I don't ant to leave here
but I have to do because I a backpacker. I'm sure I'll miss you guys and
beautiful meals. In fact I've done many experiences which are shearing,
digging out the trees, cleaning the windows, weeding etc. And I've learned
many things through Kim, even if you disagreed with me. Thank you for
everything... I have a favour that I want to come back again before I leave
Bundaberg, just one day. Can I...hihi. Anyway, even though we can't see
again each other in our entire life, we can keep in touch through the email,
ok? Enjoy your life!!" (Kyoung Hin Kim, Korea, 29/5/2005)
"Finally I'll leave
tomorrow morning. I'm sure I'll miss Keiren and Iris, I like them so much.
Above all things, thank you for dealing with me so kindly. I wish you two
had more broaden mind and thoughts. I can't explain it precisely because I'm
not good at English. I'm sorry to write it done like this. Anyway, I like

human being. I could change lots of my way of thinking how to live. I will
never forget, I will remember all of the things you said to me. I am
terribly sorry to leave. If it's possible, I'll be back, before I go back to
Korea." (Dong-Ho Shin, Korea, 17/2/2005)

really care about your guests and it shows. I felt at home from the first
minute. I look forward to stay here again in the near future. I will always
remember the delicious food cooked with love and the exquisite massage by
Kay Hock. Till next time guys." (Ronnie, Belgium, 5/11/2004)
"Dear Kim and Kay Hock,
we enjoyed our time at your wonderful place very much. We think you are very
special people because you were like friends to us. We didn't see such a
way to talk and to treat us on any other WWOOFing farm before. Thank you for
the very delicious food, for the luxurious accommodation, the movies and
especially for your jokes, Kim. We don't like that you will find some other
WWOOFers who can make a drain like we did." (Jan + Benjamin, Germany,

Germany, 7/5/2004)
"It certainly was good to
enjoy a relaxing 2 days here. The surroundings are peaceful and the ambiance
first rate. Kay Hock cooks a mean curry, that's for sure! We hope to come
here again." (Marcel Fastier, 10/4/2004)
"A home within a home.
Really enjoyed the food, the fresh air, calmness and of course speaking in
Hokkien. Kay Hock -we have to dry Mandarin the next time. Hope to come back
and look forward to our Sunday meeting at the market. Best wishes." (Amy
Chia, 10/4/2004)
"I'm pleased with what I
feel and what I see! Kay Hock, my brother in law, immigrated to Australia
for more than 10 years, have his first relative visiting him (most
unexpected guest?). Hope this is going to be the first of many visits to
follow, especially from our other brothers and sisters. Hock, you've
happiness, be yourself, find purpose in life, be happy for many years to
come! Looking forward to have both of you back in Penang on holiday season.
I almost forgotten, Kim, you make me feel so warm and at home." (Ramon Swee
Hong + JP Wong + children, Malaysia, 3/4/2004)
"Well, well, well, this
is my second visit to Mengyuan, and I've loved every minute! I stayed much
longer this time and I've really enjoyed the very relaxed lifestyle and
beautiful surroundings. And you both take such wonderful care of me and I
appreciate everything... You must keep in contact." (CJ Mansfield, New South
Wales, 25/3/2004)
"What a worry! Hahaha.
I've stayed in here for 5 weeks. Wow! Very long time. While I was staying
here, I'll never forget Kim, Kay Hock, your friends, puppies, sheep, party,
rum and coke, my roommate. You are very kind, friendly. Especially Kay Hock,
thank you for dinner. I'm always full he...he... I'll miss you both if I
have some time, so I want to come here again. Do you allow me? I had a good
time, good memories, take care of yourselves." (Kim Hyun Dae, Korea,
2/3/2004)
"I've stayed 2 weeks in
here and tomorrow I am going to Bundaberg. Cause by hot weather, sometimes
the work was very hard, but I am satisfy with life of Kim and Kay Hock's
farm. The 2 weeks was so fast for me. Kim and Kay Hock are very friendly
people so don't worry about life of here, you will enjoy it. I'm really
appreciate tom Kim and Kay Hock. If I have time I want to come again. Thank
you also my roommate Hyun Dae." (Jae Hyung Hyun, Korea, 29/2/2004)
"Well, I visit again this
place and the moment my travel in Australia is almost finished. I have been
travelling in Australia total 11 months. While I'm travelling Australia, I
met a lot of great people and had a good experience. I can't forget it
forever. It's nearly time to come back to Korea. Routine life, nothing
stimulation anymore and it's all vague what I have to do in my life. But
that's all right. I'm ready to face my problem. This travel teach me I have
to appreciate every single day. Smile, be happy. Don't worry." (Jeong Hyun
Kim, Korea, 11/2/2004)
"I spent just 5 days in
here and I'm leaving tomorrow. It was my second place where I stayed in
Australia and it was good enough to say that it will be 'unforgettable'. I
believe that all human beings have something to share with each other -
something that language can not dare to block out. And I experienced that in
here, although it was a short period. Kim, you always called me 'baby' and
said I will never come back here. But maybe I will come back, who knows? And
I'll be a 'small adult' at that time. And Kay Hock, I'll use your massage
style in Korea. 3 spots in the head, I remember. And, you, know, you're a
very very nice cooker. Anyway, it was a good experience in my travel in
Australia." (Hyo Jun Yang, Korea, 5/1/2004)
"Thank you for allowing
me to visit here. Last night I didn't forget to enjoy 'Happy New Year'
party. I have experienced 'tattoo' and Australian culture. Good!" (Yun Sung
Lee, Korea, 1/1/2004)
"Thanks a lot for your
great hospitality, the tasty meals and for spending Christmas with you and
your friends! I really enjoyed my week of WWOOFing here, although the pool
has been blown away and the spa has been broken. Wishing you all the best
and Dankeschon!" (Sebastiaan, Germany, 28/12/2003)
"Hospitality plus! A
wonderful, peaceful, happy place. Wish we could stay a lot longer. The best
food ever. We will be back, hopefully with more rain but with the car window
up. Good luck with all you do." (Wayne, Trish, Nathan, Bennie + Nicole,
23/11/2003)
"Thank you for taking and
feeding me. Your place is good enough to make me sleeping machine. Really
enjoyed and get relaxed. I would like to say I'm leaving 'not' just because
of Japanese girls. Hope everything will work out well for you." (Taewon,
Japan, 14/10/2003)
"Wish you both the best
in all you do. Thank you for all the hospitality and great food this
morning. Hope you get lots of rain soon." (Edward + Bragg, 29/9/2003)
"I wish you both would
get good things from WWOOFing. Take care of yourself." (Jun + Dong, Korea,
3/9/2003)
"Hi Kim and Kay Hock!
Hope you guys are all right. And I wish U will accomplish your purpose,
gentle and interesting men. U are good men. I sensed that the first time I
received your mail (Kim) and meet Kay Hock. We had fun with learning cook,
talking in spa, building the Hyun garden, watching movie... (trying to see
ISS). I think while people grow up, majority of people is getting lost their
dream. But now I found the men who're not lost their dream. I really hope we
can meet sometime in the future." (Prince, 21/8/2003)
"Thank you very much Kim
and Kay Hock for your kindness. Tomorrow I shall leave this beloved place.
I'm really gloomy. I'll miss Kim and Kay Hock. Kay Hock! I told you before,
I feel like flying heaven when I get the Ka Huna massage in the shower bath
room. I never really forget this Mengyuan as a heaven. If I can speak
English more fluently, I think I had more interesting time. Don't say
goodbye, we'll meet again some day and I want you to meet in the Korea
airplane. I'll do you the best service. Thank you." (Jang-Yong Park, Korea,
18/7/2003)
"Don't know how to say
now. Thank you Kim and Kay Hock. I shall never forget your kindness and warm
concern. Naughty girl and sweet potato will come back again at Mengyuan.
Take care and enjoy yourselves. (Hyun Woo, Korea, 18/7/2003)
"It's too difficult to
explain my feelings at the moment. We've stayed at Mengyuan for 5 weeks.
I've become rich person since I arrived here, because I got beautiful
friends and our love has been mature since that period. Besides we got our
own car. Dear Kim and Kay Hock, I won't be able to forget when we were
crying in your room. You were the parents when we were in trouble. How can
we forget everything? We've decided if we have a daughter we will call her
Mengyuan and I'll tell her about our beautiful friends, precious times...
Please take care of yourselves. Finally, I really appreciate Kay Hock's and
Kim's warm concern." (Hyun Kyung, Korea, 18/7/2003)
"Thank you Kim and Kay
Hock for your generous hospitality. You have a wonderful home - beautiful
space, great views, lovely dogs and warm hearts. Kay Hock, thanks for the
wonderful Ka Huna massage you gave me on the site of the old swimming pool.
Just beautiful with the donkeys singing, the sun setting and an all female
audience. Everyone reading this -> ask Kay Hock for one of his beautiful Ka
Huna massage. You will feel just wonderful and so much alive. Enjoy. I
really enjoyed the company of your Korean guests. A real threat. Kim thanks
for your company and the chance to share this wonderful home you have
created." (Kevin, Bardon, 21/6/2003)
"First, thank you for
your kindness host 10 days. I've been real dreaming times! I'' never forget
about Kim, and miss Kay's cooking... I have a brave about English with
talking with you and understand Australian culture living with you. After I
go back to Korea, I must remember about other cultures and try to have an
open mind and changing myself. The thinkings and experiences in here, those
are my real treasure!" (Hwang Tae Won, Korea, 12/6/2003)
"Thank you for your
fabulous hospitality over the last 2 days. Your home has been a wonderful
retreat and I'm so glad I got to stay here. You're both such great hosts and
I've felt very at home here. The delicious food, the scintillating
conversation, the artwork, the movies and the homely atmosphere have been
something that will make me think fondly of this stay. I'll look forward to
seeing you again." (Blake Mason, 2/6/2003)
"Wow, what can I say! My
first spa, Chinese dessert, VCD/DVDs! What an experience! I was glad I
wasn't naked in the spa! Lending the trees was like wrapping up your pets
for a cold night, but grew on me! The bed was a great break from the van.
The argumentative dinner was interesting! Me and Kay Hock shrinking into the
background/kitchen! Take care and thank you." (Tom Hick, 24/5/2003)
"Sorry that I couldn't
stay longer. It was fantastic to stay here, you are so nice. It's a nice
house and the food is great, thanks for that Kay Hock. My first WWOOF
address would probably the best. Thank you for the hospitality, and have a
nice life!" (Erik Polderdijk, The Netherlands, 23/5/2003)
"Dear Kim and Kay Hock,
it's time to leave here. Finally, it approaches me to back to Korea. I feel
sad but it's my fate. I can't promise to come back here but I'm going to
try. What am I writing about? Doesn't matter. I don't care, life is short,
she will be alright. It's not a big deal. And then, what I miss is the best
one I can't watch the program 'Big Brother' anymore, so I feel sad. When I
go back to Korea, I'll watch Big Brother through the internet. I thank Chang
Su who recommended me to visit here. Thank you so much for your
hospitality." (Dae-Hyun Kim, Korea, 13/5/2003)
"This was our first WWOOF
farm and I think it is the best we will get in Australia. We like to thank
you for your hospitality, healthy food, DVD player and the things we forgot.
Kim and Kay Hock, we wish you the best for the future and maybe we will come
back at the end of our journey." (Wouter + Teije, The Netherlands, 4/5/2003)
"A very short stay
-this time, but a very friendly stay where it's so peaceful, pretty yet
adventurous. Thank you Kay Hock and Kim for making my short stay so
enjoyable and comfortable, great place, splendid food and company, nights of
chatting and drinking with you and guests made me feel very warm inside.
Miss u all, very much looking forward to returning to your place of
paradise, too stay longer and enjoy your company again. Not looking forward
to city life again, or work, but with these special memories look forward to
see your smiles again soon!" (Darren Davies, Rainbow Beach, 2/5/2003)
"Firstly, thank you for
everything Kim and Kay Hock. I wish I could stay here longer. I am going to
miss Kim teasing me and Kay Hock's cooking. I'd better stop now, because I
don't want you guys to know how bad my writing is. Take care of yourselves
and my Japanese high way!" (Asao Fukui, Japan, 30/4/2003)
"Restful, Peaceful,
Quiet- just like me?? Just what I need to unwind and paint up a 'storm'.
Exquisite meals for me and my strange stomach and my family. I will return
and entertain the spa again in the treetops." (Barel + Bill Davis + Hazel
Deeming, 7/4/2003)
"Very enjoyable 3 days,
fantastic scenery and the food delicious. Many thanks." (Jay Hogan,
7/4/2003)
"Only a short stay, but a
great time. Terrific location, company and food." (Andrew Jacos, 20/3/2003)
"Kay Hock and Kim, thanks
you so much for magnificent meal and quality company! My woman's Day
colleagues are jealous!" (Jacqui Long, 20/3/2003)
"Thanks for everything -
wonderful hospitality and surroundings." (Peter, 13/3/2003)
"So pleased for the
opportunity to celebrate Kim's 50th birthday. Kay Hock's paintings are
magnificent! Fantasmagorical food, as always! Hope it's not too long before
our next visit. Always remember... it must be true, it was on the internet!
(Karen + Gary, 3/3/2003)
"Thanks, thanks, thanks."
(Henk + Rene, The Netherlands, 5/1/2003)
"I am so honoured to be a
man, who visits this house first in 2003. Actually I had no idea if I come
back here or not. However, I really missed Kay Hock's food, donkey, puppies,
beautiful stars. This house might be my last WWOOF house and last travel...
I'm leaving next month. I'd like to stay here longer but I haven't got
enough money so that I'm going to work at Stanthorpe. Probably, it'll be
very hard for me, but I don't mind. I like Australia and I really enjoyed
everything. I'll keep this everything in my mind forever. (Korea, 4/1/2003)
"Even though I've stayed
only a week, I got many impressions. This house is my third WWOOFing house
and also best house for me. At first I'd like to cook for Kay Hock and Kim
but Kay Hock's food is fantastic. So I have nothing to do... I could try
many kinds of food which I've never tried, so thanks for your hospitality.
Be happy." (Won Seok, Korea, 8/12/2002)
"Kim and Kay Hock, I'm
Changyeol... Can you remember me? Long green hair and singer and from Korea.
It was very nice time. Frankly speaking, I felt a little bit lonely, my bed
is too big... This place is very very peaceful and quiet and lovely. I think
it's very good experience to me. I have not much time in Australia (you know
I have to go to Army. So I couldn't stay here longer. But after Army, if I
have chance, I really really want come back here. I hope we will meet again.
Next time I will bring my guitar. Very very very good to meet you. Thanks
for everything." (Chang-yoel Choi, Korea, 8/12/2002)
"First, thank you very
much Kim and Kay Hock! I had a great time with you guys and the dogs. If I
could speak English fluently maybe I had more interesting time, but I have
satisfied. Anyway I'm very lucky man, because my first and last WWOOF house
is fantastic. It's really nicer than I thought. Sometimes look at this one
and think of me! I hope you guys always be happy!" (Joo Young Kim, Korea,
8/12/2002)
"Three weeks and two days
after arriving in the unknown, I can surely sat that it was worth it. Life
here is timeless and you loose track of which day it is. Many thanks Kim and
Kay Hock for putting up with a British imperial nutter and accommodating me
into your lives. Working on (and indeed under) olive trees has been a new
area to explore, as has the morals of moving water from one tank to another
(the pool)! Everything has been excellent, and unfortunately I may have to
return!" (Tomas Yonge, England, 26/11/2002)
"Once again, great
hospitality and great food! Thank you." (Sara, Stuart, Louise, Katie +
Dylan, Yeppoon, 10/11/2002)
"Very nice to meet you,
Kim and Kay Hock. Thanks a lot of nice food, funny talking, teach me English
etc. a lot! Fuckin' enjoyed in Australian life. But I have to say sorry to
you... Japanese rain doll worked only one day. I'm very sorry... I came to
Australia. The reason was separated with boyfriend in Japan. But I came
here, I can forget it a little, so I'm thankful. I want to stay longer, but
I have to go to look for rich, handsome and kind partner. So, I can get it,
I come back here with good partner, by guest. I will send e-mail about
Australian life and catching boyfriend. Of course when Yeti get married, you
must call me anytime. Then I wish you good luck forever." (Sanshiro Kodaka,
Japan, 07/11/2002)
"Thank you very much for
your hospitality. Nice to see how you made such an oasis here. Hope to rain
falls soon for the plants." (Paul + Paul, 24/10/2002)
"Keep up the good work. A
wonderful evening what I had!!" (Micheal, Brisbane, 17/10/2002)
"Well I came, I dug, I
ate, I learned, I left, I was forgotten. You guys are cool in my books, with
wicked neighbours as well. Coincidence we came here? I think not, lessons
were learned here and knowledge was passed ,which I am always grateful for.
My advice if worthy of your thoughts is this: "Seize the day' and 'No one on
their deathbed wishes that they could have worked more'. So guys take care,
we'll be in touch." (Chris Shennan, 9/2002)
"Well, my path to
spiritual enlightenment has been questioned. Isn't life a beautiful journey.
I believe everywhere we go and everyone we meet was in our cards from the
day 1 spirit gets passed on in to our next body. Kim, our dinner time won't
be forgotten. Who knows maybe we'll meet up in the spiritual word one day,
maybe not. Kay Hock your skills are endless, never stop learning new things.
Your food is definitely top notch. Wish I could have learnt mahjong, looks
like a good mind game. Our time was short, but memories will last a lifetime
or maybe two. All the best." (Dano, Canada, 9/2002)
"Thank you Kim and Kay
Hock. This is very nice time in my travel. Kay Hock, your cook is excellent
and your movies too. I learned many things from Kim and I feel many things
from nature. In the Fields of dreams, it's unforgettable memories to me. And
now I have new dream. I'll try to it's come true. OK, time to say goodbye."
(Ui Whan Kim, Korea, 20/9/2002)
"Thank you for a quiet 2
days in your house, Kim and Kay Hock. You are excellent hosts. We have
enjoyed your company and wish you all the best." (Jack + Bill, Perth,
11/9/2002)
"First of all, thank you
for kindness Kim and Kay Hock, and sorry to Kay Hock, because I usually made
my room dirty. If I come back next time I'll always make my room clean. I
have been here 3 weeks and I did go to many party. It was very good
experience to me. I'd like stay here forever, but it's time to go. I'm going
to Gold Coast just short time and then I'll come back to this house. Thanks
for teaching English many times. I never forget and I should try many time.
See you as soon as possible... I think that all WWOOFers say 'This house is
WWOOFers paradise'." (Seong Gun Kim, Korea, 8/8/2002)
"First of all, thank you
for everything (food, special party, you taught me a lot of fucking
words...). When I came to this house, I really worried about English,
because my English is not good. But I felt really comfortable during I
was staying here. As I made a lot of wrong sentences, you fixed my English.
So I thought I wanted to stay longer. But I'm leaving here tomorrow, so as
to learn another English person an another beautiful girl (I hope). I had a
definitely fucking good time since I came here. And I can't forget your word
'hee-hoan, no manner'. But actually you are absolutely rude men :). I was
really good supervisor and perfect man. Maybe if you read this book, you
will say 'this is stupid, foolish and something'. But if you everything me,
this is all lie. Don't miss me. Someday suddenly I will come back again when
I spend all money. Also don't forget my name Hee-Hoan. I will absolutely
miss a lot of good food and another day supervisor. Thank you..." (Hee-Hoan,
Korea, 1/9/2002)
"Thank you so much for
opening your home to ourselves and our nuisance animals. We really enjoyed
our stay here and will definitely be coming back sometime. Hopefully Keiren
will behave next time and have the fishpond alone. The food was great, the
atmosphere very relaxing and we appreciate all you did for us. Hope to see
you in the near future." (Jen + Troy, 25/8/2002)
"Thank you for nice meal,
nice accommodation and everything. I never forget spa, trench, dogs, 'to
keep everything clean', 'once in my lifetime' and you. Thank you very much!"
(Shinji, Japan, 30/7/2002)
"As I waited for Kay Hock
at the News Agency bus stop, my WWOOFing life was started. I'm leaving here
at 26/7, so as to make money in Bundaberg. Before I came here, I worried
about my English, because I can't speak English well. But Kim and Kay Hock
make me feel comfortable. They listened carefully whatever I said. I cannot
forget this words 'enjoy carefully, perfectly, fucking'. Kim and Kay Hock
are so kind as to allow me to eat as much as I can, and stay as long as I
can. As you know, Kim and Kay Hock are nice people. I cannot thank you
enough. I'll keep my finger crossed for Kim and Kay Hock. I'm satisfied with
my stay in Kim and Kay Hock's house. Thanks for making me feel at home."
(Chang Soo Kim, Korea, 26/7/2002)
"Thanks for feeding me!!
I had a great time here. I never forget the good foods, spa, making
trenches, and of course cutting the pipe. When I left another farm, I wrote
down that I was the happiest WWOOFer. I am the happiest WWOOFer in the world
still now!! When I become a professional writer I want to come back here to
write manuscript. I want to come back before going back to Japan. And if
there are no jobs, I may come back soon." (Taku, Japan, 19/7/2002)
"Many thanks for the
great service and the peace of the country." (Michael Groves, Norman Park)
"Well, two days/nights
have flown. Had a wonderful day of massages. Great company, food, house,
views. On the way back south, whenever that might be, I will call in for a
professional massage, stay a few days. Until then, keep safe." (Paul,
6/7/2002)
"Field of dreams is sure
a great place to spend a relaxing time in the bush. I greatly enjoyed my
stay, albeit very short, the peace and quiet, the wonderful mountain top
views, sunrise, sunset, chooks and dogs, donkeys and sheep. Oh, that
glorious gourmet vegetarian dishes, it's a dash a right spice to a great
delightful stay. Thank you very much. I hope to see you in the Gold Coast.
May the blessings be." (George C., 22/6/2002)
"So nice I had to come
twice. Decided to come back and enjoy the pleasures of Mengyuan once more. I
missed the food, atmosphere, privacy and conversation. There are many good
time to be had here and plenty to go around. But once again it is time to
leave and another chapter comes to a close. Thank you Kim and Kay Hock."
(Don, USA, 20/6/2002)
"I am very happy that I
met Hilda and Mike who told me about you and your farm. Although I am not
yet a WWOOFer you gave me the opportunity to experience some days on a farm
where I woke up because of a rooster. I liked the time here very much,
especially going in the spa. It's a pity that I have not so much time to
stay longer." (Robert Woehl, 19/6/2002)
"Reading through this
book has given me a good laugh. Initially I was to stay a few days, but the
weather and fate intervened and a week later I am still here. Tomorrow I
depart to see the Reef and to travel further on, always forward... There's
more to see and to do. But I've had a good time here and feel reluctant to
leave. My experience has been much the same as the others: drinking with the
neighbours, digging trenches with Keiren as company, catching up on unseen
movies but mostly eating well and sleeping. My laundry has never smelled so
fresh. I will miss all the dogs, except the one that farts and Kieran’s
night time barking escapades. I'll miss Kay Hock's food and Kim's taking the
piss out of all the things American. Politics aside, I will remember Gin Gin
and some of the more subtle things that happened for longer than you'd
think. Any time you're thinking of visiting the USA I think a special effort
to get to Chicago should be made. Good on you for what you've created here."
(Don, USA, 10/6/2002)
"Kay Hock and Kim, I've
been in Australia for two months already and had a great time, but the best
two weeks were here, even though it was work!! Especially clearing the chook
shed, I still get nightmares from it. You gave me great hospitality and
food!! It was a brilliant experience and don't worry, I'll still try and
pray for rain!." (Adam, 2/6/2002)
"Kay Hock and Kim, thank
you very very much for letting us into one week of your fabulous life." (Kees,
The Netherlands, 31/5/2002)
"Also a little word from
the other Dutch power. It's already the last day of a wonderful week on a
farm. I'll do tonight the last rain dance and hope for you and also for the
olive plants that it starts raining. As a WWOOFer, for the first time I
would like to thank you guys." (Luuk, The Netherlands, 31/5/2002)
"Great views, tonnes of
movies, excellent food, plus a wonderful hot tub! Wish we could have stayed
longer!" (Joel, Canada + Gerrian, The Netherlands, 15/5/2002)
"Thank you Kim and Kay
Hock for your hospitality. The food was fabulous and the service was super.
Our dogs had the time of their lives, though I think the donkeys scared them
a bit. I don't think they've ever seen such big 'dogs'!" (Sara, Stuart,
Louise, Katie + Dylan, 15/5/2002)
"Very enjoyable evening.
Thank you for dinner and wine. We will recommend you to our friends in New
Zealand and Malaysia." (John + Terry, New Zealand, 15/5/2002)
"Kim and Kay Hock, what a
retreat you have here, very 'back to nature' and peaceful, your house is
amazing. We loved having a nice bed to come back after work. The work was
nice, getting some exercise and being outdoors and of course having the
pleasure of working with such characters. Keiren kept me amused for hours,
barking at this own splashes in the dams and chasing the sticks we were
clearing. Kay Hock, thank you for the meals you cooked for us, they were
delightful, however we would like to sample those cakes we were talking
about. And Kim, next time you're in England go to Yorkshire, we all talk
like this and not like the Queen! Great selection of movies to relax in
front of, Kay Hock keep the selection growing. The four of us will not
forget Mengyuan, we have lots of memories from this past week to take with
us on our travels up the east coast. Kim, that e-mail scared the pants out
of us, THANKS, we'll never forget your unique sense of humour. Thanks for
having us." (Kelly, Jonny, Lee + Lucy, England, 29/4/2002)
"Thank you for an
absolutely 'gorgeous', 'lovely' and 'stunning' five days here at Mengyuan.
It has been a fantastic place to start WWOOFing. Thank you for the
opportunity, it was much appreciated. You've made us feel very welcome,
meeting neighbours, trips to Bundaberg and Gin Gin and the ARTS BBQ, all of
which was a memorable experience. You both have been great company, as have
the pets! It has felt like home for two weeks. Great food and luxury
accommodation. Thanks again and good luck in all you do." (Ian + Justine,
18/4/2002)
"I hated it! (April
Foals). This house is fantastic! We immediately felt comfortable and at
ease, relaxation after that was easy. You guys are wonderful and kind, and
we are both adamant that we will visit your beautiful homestead again soon.
Your little piece of heaven, We call Mengyuan, We will never forget, As our
minds are set, Again we will come, For maybe a week or some, TO relax and
unwind, With friends so kind. Thank you Kin and Kay Hock for everything, we
will meet again." (Tina + Michael, Wallaville, 1/4/2002)
"I will leave tomorrow. I
don't want to leave but there is no work which I should do. If there are
other WWOOFers, I will dig the well to not leave this place. When I came
here at first, this place was not as good as I expected. But this mind
disappeared, when I'm watching my result of work that I've done. Because of
a comfortable feeling, I didn't study English. I just watched movies. If I
have a chance, I'll like to visit again to this place. If I would speak
English, I should talk to Kim and Kay Hock so much. Anyway, this place is
very good to study English and take a relax. I don't know exactly whether I
can visit again or not. However, if someone finds a good place where they
can study English so well, I want to recommend this place. Thank you for a
comfortable mood and delicious dishes." (Yong Hoon Kim, Korea, 09/03/2002)
"Thanks to you, I could
come back here and get a wonderful experience again. You remember? When I
told you 'I want to go back' and you said to me 'of course'. At that time,
this saying made me weep for joy. So, you always are there for me. To be
frankly, I'm so weak. If I get a big problem, I might ask you how I can
solve it. So please give me some advice, ok? Anyway, I have to leave here,
for going to India, Nepal and Tibet. Now, I'm satisfied with and proud of
that I could spend a half of my life in Australia with you. Thank you as a
kind friends and fathers, sincerely Good Bye!" Tomohiro Namihisa, Japan,
4/1/2002)
"Last night, I wanted to
see the stars, but I will not, because the rain come soon. I never forget
staying here the first night. I had never seen such many stars before I came
here. Time flies. Everyone have 24 hours a day, but we're all different how
to use the time. I thought many things during staying here, but I didn't get
any answers. I can say, I must be approaching to my ideal. Now I am laying
the foundation of my life in Australia. I am thinking an being trouble, it's
for the glitter of my life. I got strong body and mind through some
experience. Anyway here is too hot. I think Summer is not good to work here.
If you want to get a experience, winter is best. You should have a lot of
trouble, even though you buy those. I want to say it like this. It is
important for us to do experience all. Thank you for your kindness. I will
meet you again some day." (Kwanju Park, Korea, 4/1/2002)
"Thanks for everything
mates, me and mark have only been here for 2 days but we already hate to
go! You've got yourselves a wonderful, relaxing paradise up here and I'm
very glad you let us share in your 'no worries' live! (Sebastiaan Huitkamp,
The Netherlands, 28/12/2001)
"In addition to above, I
would also really thank you, for the wonderful time we had with you and your
neighbours. Keep going like this and maybe we'' see each other again. So
thanks for everything." (Mark Horstman, The Netherlands, 28/12/2001)
"Thank you very much for
making us feel so at home. We have already been here for 2 weeks but it
feels like we just arrived, time flies!" (Emma Sjogren + Pierre Wittlock,
Sweden, 19/12/2001)
"Heavenly stay, as
always. Too little time. Beautiful food. But, most of all, great company."
(Karen + Gitty, 2/12/2001)
"Glad that Mengyuan was a
part of my adventure. Thanks for the great hospitality and the extra weight
I've put on! If things get too much for me, I'll be back to use the spa, ok?
I've made 6 new friends in 6 days, not bad!" (Helen Skinner, England,
26/11/2001)
"Thanks for your
hospitality and wonderful cooking. Very enjoyable." (Marvin Marshall, USA +
Robyn Sitdiffe, Australia, 25/11/2001)
"Thank you Kim and Kay
Hock and a much required rest for us. We look back at how much have been
established since our first visit in the first week in your new country
residence. Sorry that I couldn't help with the heavy work this time. We look
forward to your visit to us at Malabar in the very near future." (Mum and
Dad, 27/10/2001)
"Dear Kim and Kay Hock,
To begin with, I wanna say "I appreciate your kindness sincerely". I stay
here around 2 months. I don't think 'time flies', because we have lots of
memories which everyone is precious and fresh for me, including hard things.
I made a fucking long trench, deep holes or something. Also I broke your
favourite cup, exercise goods measure and shovel, ah... so many. I'm so
sorry... And I couldn't decide what to do for my future life. Kim, your
advice made me it. I will never forget you said 'Everyone have a chance. Now
is the time. You can try anything'. I really wanna grab my dreams at any
cost. In the future I will be a journalist, but at the time don't ask me
about law. Today I have you, but two months ago I didn't. Some kind of magic
happened, logic can't explain. Why we met? Now, I know the reason just a
little bit. It's a necessity, not an accident, I think. Whatever happens to
me, Buddha's arrangement. Buddha and Kim and Kay Hock, you make me be happy
here. Now I have my family, friends, philosophy, Buddha and you. I trust
these like the ground. That's why these keep me walking when I'm falling
down. I know I have only one life. I have to let this be the best one. I
will never forget you. Thanks for everything. P.S. Live with a positive
attitude!" (Tomohiro Namihisa, Japan, 26/10/2001)
"Now I'm looking at my
rough hands, scars, calluses, blisters I'm proud of them. Come to think of
it, my life of Mengyuan was not so easy, so it's more valuable. Since I
arrived in this country, I have been lucky. I met my nice friend, Tomo, and
I met Kim and Kay Hock. They made me feel a love of family, which I couldn't
expect. Sometimes like father, sometimes like brother and friend. Also, I
could learn a living English and find real Aussie, Kim, thank you for your
teaching (my poems). Whenever we finished our work, you never forget telling
us "thank you". But it was really my pleasure. Kay Hock, thank you for your
beautiful foods and kindness... I'll remember your songs in the spa and many
talks. I want to be remembered as a nice Korean WWOOFer and your friend
rather than one of Kwanggin's friends." (Shin Dong Ki, Korea, 14/10/2001)
"I don't believe how I
can live here such a long time. Usually my task was a fucking difficult and
I couldn't get any holiday for one month as well. I think I addicted myself
to your smile, kindness and fantastic food. Now, I have to leave here, I
will never forget everything about Mengyuan. I think two trenches will
operate properly because I made it. Somehow if it's broken, blame 'Tomo'
same as Kim's burp and fart. I don't want to leave here, but I have to watch
TV with girls so I'm going unavoidably. From tomorrow, we will go to
different way but this time which I lived in Mengyuan will remain in my
heart forever. Have a nice life! (Yun Jong-uk, Korea, 30/9/2001)
"We enjoyed your
hospitality and friendly conversations over the two days of our stay. Good
place for an art seminar." (Robert, Joan, Elisabeth + Charley, 16/9/2001)
"I learned lots of
Australian words. However they were almost fucking something. Could I
improve my English? The answer is no. But I enjoyed my life here in
Mengyuan. I will never forget my wonderful memories I had here. Kim and Kay
Hock, thank you so much for looking after my fucking stay!" (Masami
Kamibayashi, Japan, 31/8/2001)

"Here is my first WWOOF
place. It was very surprised. Because everyday was wonderful meals and very
clean house, very comfortable double bed (I needed a girl!) and spa. I felt

I think. I am sure a few empty bottles of rum have gone to the recycled
during my stay. A big thanks to Ken Hone and Drew Carey for great
hospitality and crap 'pone' jokes. I hope they get better. Sorry about the
really bad smell and porn we have left behind, you will grow to love it how
we've gone. Wishing you all the best, all my love, hugs, kisses and fairy
dust." (Andrew Wilson, England, 21/3/2001)

tree planting (more than 170 holes wow!), did ringbarking mulching... And
due to the work I became more strong and healthy person. Now I'm leaving for

and Kay Hock, we did a spa together, sometimes shopping, working together.
Kim helped me to improve my English, Kay Hock made a beautiful dish for me
(us) (even though he attribute all things done wrong for me!:)). I can not
