CHESS DOS PROGRAMS 2-November 2002
On this page are some DOS programs I wrote in the early 1990s.
Most of these are zip files, to unzip these, you need a copy of WinZip
from winzip.com.
If a demo program doesn't work for some reason email me
with details (including your operating system).
CHESS PUZZLES
The full version includes thousands of chess puzzles (not like composed
puzzles, but like actual play positions) designed for the novice or
intermediate player. Do it with software, not from a book.
Download the DOS demo version
here cpdemo.zip 146K.
The full version can be purchased for $25. Email me for details.
PayPal can be used, even if you have no account there.
CHESS RATER
First World Correspondence chess champion and popular author C.J.S.Purdy
recommended going over master games and trying to guess the move as a
fast way of improving.
The full version includes a collection of 40 classic master games in
which you try and guess the winner's moves. Something like "How good
is your chess?", but multiple choice. Gives you a rating per game and
brief reasons behind each move.
Download the DOS demo version
here ratedemo.zip 152K.
The full version can be purchased for $25. Email me for details.
PayPal can be used, even if you have no account there.
CHESS ANALYZER
This program allows you to add trees of analysis to a game (along with
notes). You are able to give your evaluation of positions and analyzer
will give you the best line of play for both sides.
You may be able to analyse deeply much faster than a chess engine.
Useful for email/postal chess, studying your own OTB games or
opening analysis. Written in C++.
