The FIDE Championship took place September 27th - October 16th 2005 at Potrero de los Funes, San Luis (Argentina). Players: Rustam Kasimdzhanov, Michael Adams, Peter Leko, Vishy Anand, Veselin Topalov, Alexander Morozevich, Peter Svidler, and Judit Polgar. Veselin Topalov after a stellar 6.5/7 start won the event by drawing the remaining games and is the new FIDE World Chess Champion.
