About Me

Hi, I'm Shane Hudson. I started Scid back in 1999 and from its inception it has been a free open-source project. I live in Christchurch (pop. 300,000), New Zealand (pop. 4 million) with my wife Becky, son Andrew, daughter Ashley and two cats.

I don't play much serious chess these days; my last national (NZCF) rating was just under 2000. As White I like the Trompowsky; as Black, the Scandinavian. Rook endgames have always been a favourite. I haven't played the Sicilian in a serious game for more than ten years, and proud of it.
