Kit Woolsey 2000 50pp Gammon Press ISBN:1880604140
This is an excellent introduction to how play and particularly cube handling
varies in matches. It shows how to compute push and cash points, recube equity,
how to figure gammon costs, etc. It gives Kit's latest match equity chart and gives a method for
remembering most of it fairly well. If you play matches and don't immediately
recognize any of these terms, I strongly suggest reading it.

Woolsey's How To Play Tournament Backgammon is more along the
lines of a white paper rather than a book (no offense intended, Kit!). It is
definitely for intermediate to advanced players to appreciate what it is
conveying. Its purpose is to help folks understand whether to offer/accept
doubles, given particular match scores. I would guess I understand 75% of what
Kit is conveying, although I have never used the information in any particular
situation (maybe that is why my rating is mid-1600's!). It is more or less a
statistical view of what should be done with the doubling cube. I think it's
great that Kit spends time trying to educate players, so I don't consider it a
waste of time and money.
