Review for Deep Sjeng 1.0, and ChessPartner.
I have been beta testing this software since before Christmas 2002. I have seen improvements in play from the engine, and in the Gui! The latest version of this Gui, makes this a must for any Computer Chess enthusiast, to have in his/her collection.
ChessPartner is an alternative, to the Chessbase products! One that I can, and will recommend!!
I do not intend to write an A to Z here.
This is not intended as a manual. Here though, is a few pointers that makes it for me, worth the money!
J One can import external engines. Winboard and UCI.
J The opening book that comes with the program, has been written by Jeroen Noomen. He is widely regarded as an expert on such matters!
J You can create your own opening books. If you wanted to. You can create books from pgn files, or from other sources.
J The possibility to play on Internet Chess Servers.
J Because Deep Sjeng is an UCI engine, it can be loaded into Fritz or Shredder and used both in that program, and on their chess server.
J Engine v Engine matches.
J There is also the possibility to change, or make a personality for this program.
J Games can be imported in different formats.
J When games have been imported, they can be analysed. So, enter your games and let Deep Sjeng give you some good ideas.
J Great for beginners, or for the better players.
J If you import games from Master or Grandmaster play, these can be analysed as well. Even Super GM’s make blunders, or mistakes, just ask Garry Kasparov.
J Let the program analyse your games for you.
J If you have Tablebases, then the endgame becomes, near perfect!
J Auto232 is also a great way to find the best engine. Just join up two computers, and let them play.

I have given hints as to the good points of the program. There is a wealth of goodies, that I have not even mentioned? I am prepared to put my name to this set-up, I am prepared to say here and now, I enjoy using ChessPartner. I am also prepared to say ‘The Good Just Got Better’
My hobby is Auto232. I join two computers together and let them play some chess. I have over 900 games from Deep Sjeng, versus various other opponents! This at varying time controls. From 2 minutes per game, to the longer 90 mins per game.
There is a file of games I am making available to anyone who emails me.
Deep Sjeng is an improving engine. No doubt it will be even stronger in the future. but for now, take advantage of a multi-processor capable programme. So all the folks with the machines capable of using this awesome power, it will speed up analysis greatly! It will also run on a single processor.
