2008 Summer Camps

Below is our tentative schedule for 2008. We will accept registrations now for
the camps but until they are listed in blue there is a possibility that their locations will change.

When camps fill we will note that on this page. Camps
in red are full.
Camps in McLean and Vienna usually fill first.

We take 30 - 40 students in each half-day camp, sometimes more
in the full-day camps, always on a first-come basis. Most
camps fill, so we recommend mailing your registration
to us soon.

We cannot accept registrations on-line.
To register, you must mail us a registration form along with a check.

In addition to teaching chess, we engage in a variety of recreational
activities in each camp. We supply snacks each day and organize
games like Capture the Flag. We try to go swimming twice
a week during the full-day camps in the suburbs. Some full-day
camps have the availability of an after-care problem-solving
enrichment program until 5:00 p.m. for an additional fee.
Partial scholarships usually are available for those who
need them. Camp fees include a camp T-shirt.

June Chess Camps

June 16 - 20: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Haycock Elementary School in Falls Church, for students with chess club experience entering grades 3 - 7. $175 per week. Aftercare available until 5:00 p.m. for an additional $50. Please make your registration check payable to the Haycock PTA.
June 16 - 20: 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockville, located at 100 Welsh Park Drive (next to Montgomery College) for intermediate students entering grades 4 - 9. $195 per week. Please make your registration check payable to the US Chess Center.

June 23 - 27: 9:00 a.m. - noon at Orange Hunt Elementary School in Springfield, Virginia, for less experienced (beginner to intermediate) students entering grades 2 - 7. $90 per week. Please make your registration check payable to the Orange Hunt PTA.

June 23 - 27: 1:00 - 4:00 at White Oaks Elementary School in Burke, Virginia, for more experienced (intermediate and advanced) students entering grades 2 - 7. $90 per week. Please make your check payable to the White Oaks PTA.

July Chess Camps

June 30 - July 3: Full-day camp (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) at the U.S. Chess Center downtown. For intermediate and advanced students (but not as advanced as last year) entering grades 4 - 9 who want to improve their skills at chess. Chess and other recreation. $175 per week. Please make your registration check payable to the US Chess Center office. Print flyer for this camp.

July 7 - 11: 9:00 a.m. - noon at Louise Archer Elementary School in Vienna, Virginia, for beginner and intermediate students entering grades 2 - 7. $90 per week. Please make your registration check payable to the Louise Archer PTA. FULL! We will start a waiting list.
July 7 - 11: 1:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. at Haycock Elementary in Falls Church, Virginia, for more advanced students entering grades 2 - 7. $90 per week. Please make your registration check payable to the Haycock PTA. FULL! Please do not register.

July 14 - 18: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Elementary School in McLean, Virginia, for beginner and intermediate students entering grades 2 - 7. $175 per week. July 21 - 25: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Elementary School in McLean, Virginia, for intermediate and advanced students entering grades 4 - 9. $175 per week. August Chess Camps

August 11 - 15: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Belle View Elementary in Alexandria, Virginia, area for beginner and intermediate students entering grades 2 - 7. $175 per week. Aftercare available until 5:00 p.m. for an additional $50.
