Britain wins team pursuit in Olympic cycling

Britain has won the men's team pursuit gold medal at the Laoshan Velodrome, knocking nearly two seconds off the world record it set a day earlier.

The team of Ed Clancy, Paul Manning, Geraint Thomas and individual pursuit gold-medalist Bradley Wiggins finished the 4,000 meters in 3 minutes, 53.314 seconds Monday, beating silver-medalist Denmark in the final.

New Zealand beat archrival Australia to take the bronze medal.

Britain has now won 12 gold medals in Beijing, the most of any Olympics since 1920.

Snowsill runs away with women's triathlon

Emma Snowsill of Australia has won the Olympic women's triathlon, pulling away toward the beginning of the 10-kilometer run to finish over a minute ahead of the field.

Vanessa Fernandes of Portugal won the silver, and Emma Moffatt of Australia came across the finish line about 20 seconds later for the bronze.

Four years ago, Australia's Loretta Harrop ran alone for over a half-hour before being passed only a few seconds away from the finish by Kate Allen. This year, Snowsill had time to grab a flag, pull up and wave for a bit before strolling across.

Jamaicans jam and sweep in Olympic women's 100

When it comes to Olympic sprints, nobody does it better than the Jamaicans. Yeah, mon.

The Caribbean island of 2.8 million people capped the first gold-medal double of men's and women's 100-meter dashes since 1988 with a rare gold-silver-silver in the women's race. It also was the first medals sweep of any 100 since 1912, and the first ever for the women's 100 in any Olympics or world championship. After never winning Olympic gold in the 100, Jamaica got two in as many days.

Shelly-Ann Fraser won the women's dash Sunday, pumping her fist as she was clocked in 10.78 seconds. Teammates Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart finished in a dead heat for the silver, 0.20 second back _ the same margin Jamaica's Usain Bolt won by Friday night when he hot-dogged to the finish in 9.69.
