Welcome to ChessCollect,
    Dusan Stamenkovic's Chess Page!
For all chess fans that collect chess games, I hope you will find this site interesting and fun to explore. You will have a choice to search, download and explore over 950,000 games from my collection and create or update your own database.
I fell in love with chess at my early age, and about age 12 I developed a habit of collecting chess games from local newspapers, magazines and books that I came across. Habit became a hobby and over the years I was able to collect over 30,000 games manually (literally cutting games from newspapers and gluing them into my collection book). And, of course, in last 5 years with Internet and high speed modems, it become much more easier to collect large amounts of games in short time.

In early stage of collecting I didn't realize the importance of marking down players ratings, dates and places where games occurred. As a kid, it was more important to go thru the game and watch in awe when great players come up with great moves and sacrifices. But, from collector's standpoint I think you can forgive my adolescent mistakes, so I included those games in my database, even some of them have only names of the players.

Well, enough with sentimental stuff and lets talk about how you can use my site in best way. Definitively, you are going to need some kind of Chess Program to download from PGN files. If you don't have one, you can download ChessPad from my website. I can also recommend Winboard, you can download it at Tim Mann's chess page and BluePaul's Chess Dragon, download it at BluePaul.com. Those three Chess Programs can take and search large databases and they are all free. I also recommend free Java applet MyChessViewer at MyChess.com and free chess database application Scid at Shane's Chess Information Database page.

If you have any comments or suggestions, please E-mail me. Happy hunting!
