The US Chess League began on Wednesday, August 31st, 2005. The results of this first round were as follows:
Thus the Miami Sharks (led by GM Alex Stripunsky - 2663, and including IM Irina Krush - 2445, among others) & the Philadelphia Masterminds (led by FM Norman Rogers - 2307) have the early lead in the USCL's inaugural season. The Masterminds pulled off the biggest upset of the round, defeating the much stronger (on paper) Dallas Destiny. I guess that's why they play the games!
