White to move and win
1.Bb6+
Forcing the king to e8, and setting up the knight fork
which follows.
1...Ke8 2.Nc7+ Kd8 3.Nxa8+
Removing the guard (of the bishop) with a discovered
check which also deflects the king away from protecting the bishop,
and into a corner from which there is no escape, thanks to the
ferocious pawn on d6!
3...Ke8 4.Rxc8#
Could you visualize this position back when you first saw the starting
position? Talk about combined operations! In this one
little position we had deflection, knight fork, removal of the guard,
discovered check, deflection (again), and finally a weak back rank.
Whew!
