RulesHow the Pieces Move -- The RookRooks move in straight lines, any number of squares, either horizontally or vertically. Observe the diagram below this paragraph. The white rook may move in a straight line up or down the board any number of squares, up to the edge of the board. The white rook may also move in a straight line to the left any number of squares, up to and including the square directly before the square which houses the white knight. The white rook may also move in a straight line to the right any number of squares, up to and including the square directly before the square which houses the black bishop; or the white rook may capture the black bishop by removing the black bishop from the board and moving into the square which the black bishop previously occupied.
