Weighing in at 165.2 grams of 18 carat yellow gold, the hand-made king has a uniquely turned underneath achieved using the ‘guillochet’ method. The magnificent piece is set with 73 rubies, 146 sapphires, 748 diamonds and a secreted pearl.

Detail on the queen Trevor Wardle, of Jewel Royale, reports that the set "...will be featured in advertising, promotional and charity fundraising events..." providing "...a unique promotional opportunity with world wide appeal and ‘Royale’ connections." Licensing opportunities for luxury brands will be available. Initial treatments for cognac, whisky, fragrances, leisure clothing, travel goods, confectionary and stationery have already been prepared. Brand endorsement for established and new products will be keenly sought. Award winning writer, Clifford Thurlow, has been commissioned to write a thriller entitled Checkmate.
