Companions of Xanth (Legend Entertainment, 1993)

Legend's first game using a no-typing interface is, unfortunately, nowhere near as good as it should have been. The interface is very similar to that used by Sierra and other companies, and it makes the game far too simple with little of the wit that made previous Legend games so special, which may be due to its being an adaptation of a work by Piers Anthony. Its graphics and sound are also not as memorable or distinct as their other games, which is probably also due to limitations of the interface and what have become limited expectations of the gaming community. If you like the novels on which this game is based, you should probably play this game, but even the hard-core Legend gamer would probably not enjoy it too much.
