The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall (Bethesda Softworks, 1996)

The sequel to The Elder Scrolls: Arena, Daggerfall, despite a few adjustments in the engine and character statistics, looks and feels very much the same as its predecessor. Though Daggerfall dwarfs Arena in size, presenting a world so vast in scope that it is almost beyond comprehension, the game is not as tight, nor as enjoyable to play. Though Daggerfall does have some strong points, including a very cleverly designed character generation method, improved long-distance travel over the original, and an intricate (though nearly impossible to follow) storyline, it pales in comparison to its forebearer, not breaking enough new ground to warrant any particular reason to play it. If you enjoyed Arena, you might enjoy Daggerfall, but it probably won't appeal to those who aren't die-hard fans of the series.
