Frederick Pohl's Gateway (Legend Entertainment, 1992)

Based on Frederick Pohl's book by the same name, Gateway is a very interesting game that follows the life of an outer space prospector looking to make money in the stars. There is an excellent story that develops throughout the game and is brought to a satisfying conclusion that still leaves room for the series to expand and grow. While the puzzles are generally fairly easy, good graphics and sound and a mostly non-linear design make this a good game for anyone that enjoys rather serious science fiction (though it has a few lighter moments, it is not by any means a game in the vein of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or the Space Quest series).
