Infidel (Infocom, 1983)

A desert/pyramid exploration game, Infidel's puzzles were moderately difficult, the wide majority being Egyptian "traps." As such, they require some thought as to what you are doing and what the possible ramifications of your actions might be. To tie all this together, the game has a very unusual, and perhaps unsatisfying, ending which is quite unexpected given how many stories of this type end, though it is a logical and realistic conclusion to the events in the game. This game also has a complete hieroglyphic language that can (and should, if possible) be translated. With a lot of flavor and believability, if you don't mind taking the risk of perhaps being unsatisfied by the ending, you should look into Infidel.
