Leather Goddesses of Phobos (Infocom, 1986)

Leather Goddesses of Phobos was an extremely popular Infocom title, though there really wasn't that much of a game--it was a treasure hunt in the Zork fashion, although there was an underlying, though rather weak, plot evident throughout the game. Leather Goddesses of Phobos was primarily designed to show off Steve Meretzky's comic wit and clever writing style and to provide a moderately substantive adventure game for those who wanted it, and also let people see what text could do to sex--three modes with varying levels of it were provided. There are a few very interesting points such as the flavor of the planets visited and the gender differences and how they affect the game, but it is not much of a quest or an adventure, and is really best played for its novelty value.
