Police Quest: In Pursuit of the Death Angel (Sierra On-Line, 1987)

A fascinating premise for a serious computer game, in Police Quest you portray police officer Sonny Bonds as he tracks down a drug criminal known only as the Death Angel. To add flavor, several non-relevant sequences (mostly involving tasks like pulling over people who are drunk or run red lights) are included, which are perhaps too non-relevant. In addition to this, too much police procedure which needs to be followed creates bad situations at several points in the game, though they do teach some temperance to the normal hack-and-slash gamer. The worst part of this game is the incredibly confusing plot with twists and turns that make no sense at all. Other than that, it is an interesting game to play for the novelty of its reality and believability, but is not otherwise particularly challenging or memorable.
