Picking up where Ultima IV left off, Ultima V continues the philosophy of character development through virtue rather than comat. The main quest involves finding the missing Lord British and returning him to the throne, a task which proves long and involved, with many interesting subquests and side stories. Because of the depth of the story, it is no surprise that, in this game, as in Ultima IV, fighting has been considerably deemphasized and is quite balanced. Though not as tight and considerably darker than Ultima IV, Ultima V tells a fascinating story and proves to be another magnificent addition to the Ultima series.
