IOC temporarily suspends Blonska for doping
Heptathlon silver medalist Lyudmila Blonska has been temporarily suspended pending a final ruling in her doping case at the Beijing Olympics.
International Olympic Committee spokeswoman Giselle Davies says the Ukrainian athlete has been removed from the start list for Friday's long jump final.
The IOC's disciplinary commission met to hear her case Thursday and decided to provisionally suspend her. The IOC's ruling executive board will issue its final ruling Friday.
Blonska, who finished second in the heptathlon last Saturday, tested positive for a banned substance. If found guilty of doping, she will be stripped of the medal and expelled from the games.

Did Phelps 'really' win his 7th gold medal?
Even Phelps himself, in the first couple of seconds after the finish, appeared to be subdued knowing/believing that he lost the race. But something happened there, and the official timekeeper of the event OMEGA showed that Phelps supposedly won by 0.01 of a second. That is 100th part of one second, and the lowest margin of difference allowed in the official swimming contests.

Snowsill runs away with women's triathlon
Emma Snowsill of Australia has won the Olympic women's triathlon, pulling away toward the beginning of the 10-kilometer run to finish over a minute ahead of the field.
Vanessa Fernandes of Portugal won the silver, and Emma Moffatt of Australia came across the finish line about 20 seconds later for the bronze.
Four years ago, Australia's Loretta Harrop ran alone for over a half-hour before being passed only a few seconds away from the finish by Kate Allen. This year, Snowsill had time to grab a flag, pull up and wave for a bit before strolling across.
