Headlines Never Tell The Whole Story
National headlines glared with the news of an entire Scout troop that was suffering: A boy who wanted to experience Scouting with his friends - a Scout with a medical problem that he didn't ask for. Boys who teased. Parents who believed their own children in danger. Friends? Yes. Now enemies? Possibly. Leaders who anguished over what to do? Of course. Young people who are hurting? Probably.

Headlines never tell the entire story. We at SCOUTER don't presume to know it, either. We do believe, however, that something must first be understood if we, as Scout leaders, are to handle it in the best way possible - whether it's helping a Scout learn to build a fire safely, or working with a Scout whose allergy to milk makes him cranky every time he eats ice cream.

That's why we have added this Medical Issues Library to our SCOUTER Compass. Please note that the information at this site should never replace a doctor's diagnosis. But, we hope to gather links here, to information available on the Net that may help you better understand that Scout who so desperately needs your understanding.
