Welcome to Once Upon A Prom 2008.
Meet forty male students from Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. From athletes to honor students to singers to self-proclaimed nerds, they all share one big thing in common: they're dateless for their senior prom.
There's Wayne, the two-time state sports champion; Chip, the quiet one with a tiger roaring on the inside; Whit, the new kid in town; JT, on his way to West Point; and twins Corey and Andy, Alex and Jeremy -- the newest members of the broken hearts club. All these guys are dateless and depressed -- and nothing can cheer them up better than a surprise celebrity date for prom.
Just a few hours north in Tennessee is platinum-selling recording artist and high school senior Taylor Swift. Since her debut album went multi-platinum in 2007, she's been busy on the road, winning countless awards and playing to sold-out venues with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Although she's missed out on some major high school moments over the past two years (she was on tour with Kenny Chesney and missed her junior prom), in true MTV style, her senior year is sure to end with a bang.
She's currently on tour with Rascal Flatts, but with a free evening in her hectic schedule and a big prom nearby, Taylor's not only going to a prom, but also gets to choose one of 40 lucky seniors to be her date. After spending hours scouring through video proposals from students explaining why they should be picked, Taylor narrows down her choices and finally makes her very difficult decision.
Once the lucky senior is announced, we'll see both the senior in Alabama and Taylor in Tennessee, each getting ready for prom and watch their growing excitement as they countdown to prom.
On the day of prom, we'll be on Taylor's tour bus driving down from Tennessee and be with her as she gets ready for the big night. We'll also be with the student for the entire day as he nervously prepares for prom and eagerly awaits outside to see who his surprise celebrity date is.
And, of course, once they finally meet, we'll follow every second of prom night -- the Senior Walk, the fun, and the festivities, and fulfill the dreams of one lucky fella at Hillcrest High School's prom.
