The real reason they are reducing the convention is that the Republicans are realizing that they did such a horrible job with Katrina that Gustav will only remind the public of it. They know that McCain's candidacy is lost.

In other words, the Republicans have given up and ceded the presidency to the mighty Democrats!

For Republicans this is literally a god send. The perfect cover to dispense with the stink of Bush. He has to "monitor Gustav", as if you can teach a moron anything. Seems to me I read some place where "help" had arrived,but took some time before the gov.[can't think of her name] & Mayor Negev [not sure on spelling] would let them come into the city,for "safty" reasons I think.

This storm is a perfect chance for the conservative base to step carefully away from the train wreck that the McCain convention is going to be. Good news after more good news for McCain since he picked ‘the pick of his life’ Sarah Palin.
Sarah brought the Republican party back to life and brought optimistic smile of the face of conservatives and independents that lost their hope and faith in the conservative party. Sarah can shoot much better that Dick Cheney and can speak much faster than President Bush and still make much more sense than him.
Even the evangelists and the talk show host Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin that were not sure about to deal with McCain change their mind quickly when Sarah came to town.
It all changed when Sarah Palin came like a refreshing breeze in a summer heat to save the GOP from defeat and to renewed the conservative party and prepare it to defeat the delusional Obama’s anti-American socialistic hordes.
The fact that Bush, Cheney, and the liberal socialist tax-monger Schwarzenegger are missing the republican convention means more good news and new beginning to the McCain-Palin ticket for a victory over the socialists of Obama for a better energy- independent America.
