Obama defends community organizers

The work of community organizers, who work for low salaries to help people in impoverished communities, is getting lots of attention this week as Republicans poke jabs at Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s job experience.

Nothing wrong with at all, but do not poke fun of someone being a Mayor of a small town. Obama picked the fight and is now crying like a baby. On a side note, anyone see Obama tell O'Reilly the Surge "worked beyond is wildest dreams" and that the Surge was a success. McCain made the Surge happen while Obama sat on the sideline.

I hardly think Palin is 'stupid'. I do think she was doing exactly what she was supposed to do. The same thing Biden does, which is play the attack dog for the Presidential candidate.

There really isn't anything wrong with being a community organizer, but Obama should have had the forethought to realize that attacking her experience would only open the door to attacking his. Unfortunately for him, this was a very unwise move politically. He's going to need to prove that as an organizer he had to make decisions that were essential, important and would have an impact upon many people. He'll also need to show a vast scope of responsibility.

As for his legislative work, they also brought up that approximately 80% of votes he was present for - he didn't vote. Many of the other 20% where he did vote, he had added 'earmarks' for special interests that he had connections to.(Trinity Church, The Acorn Foundation and Father Flager's Ministry among others.) I'm surprised that these issues were not brought up, I suspect they will be in the future.

Didn't see it but read it. Next thing you know, all the dems will be patting themselves on the back, saying it was their idea and they were all for it. Typical...

One speech and Obama's ducking already.

Barack Obama has never personally attacked Sarah Palin and never said anything to belittle her tenure as mayor. Sarah Palin belittled Barack Obamas service as a community organizer and the Republican attack machine is totally ignoring all of his experience and tearing it down and acting like his years as a community organizer, state senator and US senator don't matter. The only thing that matters is Sarah Palins 20 months as governor of Alaska. They say she has more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined but that includes McCain as well, hes only been a senator, he has not been a governor either. Mabye the tickets upside down, McCain for VP and Palin for Prez.

Do any of you numb skulls that are so enamored with Palins "executive experience" stopped to think about the fact that the state she governs has the same population as El Paso, Texas. She's not really a governor but a mayor to a medium sized city.

Yeah, she didn't think before she spoke. It happens to McCain a lot, maybe it's rubbing off.

I'm pretty sure that insulting people who give back to their communities wasn't such a good idea.

Well, as mayor of that small town, she did get to cut the ribbon with the oversized scissors every time a new gas station or Wallmart opened. That sort of counts as executive experience. And she recently had to hire a lawyer after being hit with ethics violation charges, so that right there puts her in league with some of our most executively experienced politicians.

Tom Ridge Calls McCain 'John Bush':

TOM BROKAW:
But the fact is, governor, that you have had eight years of a bush administration and a lot of Republicans in Congress for the last eight years, so why wouldn't the American people say, look they had their shot we're going to change?

TOM RIDGE:
Because John Bush - because John McCain is very much his own man...

That speech? Laughable.

"We went to Washington and it changed us....and it's just now at this moment that I have realized that...I had the chance to do something about that when I was bankrupting the country behind a lie and voting against all of the things I promise to bring to you now, but Washington had changed me and I couldnt do anything but vote with George 90% of the time."

"But now, change is coming. I'll lower all of your taxes while at the same time creating programs to train workers in community colleges to do God knows what and extend unemployment benefits Because God knows you people are gonna need them. Ill lower all of your taxes yet somehow continue to spend billions in Iraq and Iran if you let me. I'll lower all of your taxes yet I wont leave this massive debt to some less fortunate generation to deal with."

"With the help of the hockey mom and her lipstick, I will change Washington. I, John McCain, will protect you all from... John McCain!"

I did absolutely nothing, why work when I can sponge off the system. I wasn't paid much, but I was making a lot of money. Al Sharpton is my hero.
