Webmaster Resources
If you are a chess webmaster, there are several ways that you can use chessgames.com to enhance your site.

Chess Puzzle of the Day *NEW*

Imagine having the daily chess puzzle from Chessgames.com, on your site, automatically updated every day! All you have to do is include the following HTML in your page:

On your web page, it will occupy a space exactly 296x448 pixels, and it look like this:

Search Console

Place the power of the Chessgames.com EZ-Search on your home page! Just cut and paste the following into the HTML of any page on your site.

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="120"
bgcolor="#3F3F3F"><tr><td align=CENTER><img
src="http://www.chessgames.com/chessimages/ezsearch4.gif"
alt="EZ Search by Chessgames.com" width="120" height="186"><br>
<form style="margin-bottom:0;" method="GET"
action="http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ezsearch.pl">
<input type=TEXT name="search" value="" size="14"><input
type=SUBMIT value="search games"></form></td></tr></table>

The HTML is designed to produce a column exactly 120 pixels wide. The search console will look like this:

EZ Search by Chessgames.com

If you want to have a default value appear in the search box, change the value="" in the HTML above. For example, if you have a page about Kasparov, you could change the source to read value="Kasparov".

Banner Ads
If you want to link to the chessgames.com home page, we provide three banner ads that you can use:

banner90x120.gif

banner234x60.gif

banner468x60.gif

Banner/Link Exchange
We do not engage in banner/link exchange at this time. If you are interested in advertising on chessgames.com, please contact chess@chessgames.com.
Linking to Games and Players
The easiest way to link to a game on chessgames.com is to first find the game on our site, then provide the link. The URL will look like this:
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=______
where the blank is the "gid," the game ID number for that game. Game ID numbers never change.

Similarly, players may be linked to from URLs that look like

http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessplayer?pid=______
You may also linking to players by using the special /player/ directory, like this:
http://www.chessgames.com/player/aron_nimzowitsch.html
In this way, if you know a player's name, you can create a link to the player's page which is guaranteed to always work. (However, it is critical that you get the spelling to match the spelling we use in our database.)
Kibitzing About Your Site
If you include a URL to your chess web site in a message on the Kibitzer's Cafe it will automatically turn into a hyperlink, allowing users to visit your site. The only thing we ask is that you do not do this repetitively for the purposes of blatant advertising.

Also, feel free to mention your site in your Chessgames Profile Page. Again, the URL will automatically turn into a hyperlink.

Becoming a ChessGames.com Partner
If you have a web site which sells chess-related products, you can enhance your sales by becoming a ChessGames.com partner. Please contact chess@chessgames.com for more information. Please include a link to your site and a description of the kinds of products you offer for sale.

Other Notes

When linking to chessgames.com, please link to www.chessgames.com (with the "www"). URLs without the "www" are not guaranteed to work in the future.

Also, if you want to use graphics on our site such as the banner ads above, please spare us the bandwidth and download them to your server first.

More Features
We have other features in the works, which will be specifically aimed at webmasters who want to incorporate chessgames.com features in their site. More on this soon!
