| MoonlitKnight: <patzer> You seem to be right that a4 was in fact the best try. My shallow "analysis" simply consisted of glancing at the position and determining what I would have played in a blitz game. Fritz actually liked Bd3 after the a4 push, so the concept of the move is logical enough. |

| patzer2: <MoonlitKnight> Not a problem. I've done worse after a long analysis and did use Fritz 8 to find the move 16. a4!? |

| Dick Brain: Hammer didn't live up to his name similar to how Mr. Pulvermacher played against Capablanca. It would have been twice as bad if he game himself the name such as in John "The Hammer" Ludwig. If you do that you better be GOOD. |

| technical draw: I think all chess players should have nicknames, just like wrestlers. Here are a few suggestions: "Vicious" Vishy Anand
Vlad "Cram-it" Kramnik
Alex "The Ax" Shirov
Judit "Pistol" Polgar |

Good idea...Garry is always "The Boss" or "The Beast from Baku".
I nominate
Jan Timman "The Tin Man"
Alexey Shirov "The Sheriff"
Alexander Morozevitch "Big Mo"
Evgeny Bareev "Braveheart"
Zhang Zhong "King Kong" |

| notyetagm: A great example of the <Anastasia mate>, with the Black e2-knight covering the g3- and g1-squares to trap the White h1-king in a corridor on the h-file. Then Magnus just exploits the <LATERAL PIN> on the White g4-pawn across the 4th rank with 17 ... h5+! and it's over (18 gxh5 h4#). |
