zoat22: looks like Kamsky should be winning. Ponomariov is also pushing really hard for a win, although I am not sure if he will get it.

zoat22: <Etienne> Actually Mamedyarov is the biggest draw master of them all when it comes to super-tournaments. Nice win by Moro against Alekseev today. I predict a draw with Mamedyarov tommorow, although I think if anyone wins it will be Moro.

zoat22: <woody wood pusher> You saw it or you wrote it? I seem to remember that you wrote it but then again all the morons who write insults against Kramnik come off as 2 year olds and so you all have pretty similar writing styles. But if you did write it then maybe the stupidity of ...

zoat22: yes, <ppeti84> Yes, I believe that Ponomariov is probably the best endgame player today.

zoat22: On the other hand it looks pretty obvious that after a queen exchange Jakovenko has an almost certain win and pretty much no losing chances. I think almost any GM would go in for the queen exchange if they were in Jakovenko's shoes here.

Jul-07-08   metatron2: <<metatron2> I am sorry, but I will not be able to make it today at 18:30 GMT. I am sorry for such short notice, I just figured out that I had other engagements...>

np zoat, if u are still interested i prefer playing in the weekend since during the week i am usually pretty tired after getting back from work.

zoat22: <Ziggurat: <since during the week i am usually pretty tired after getting back from work.> Hey! Playing on FICS when well rested is cheating :-)> Well, if it isn't on FICS, it certainly is on playchess.com... :D They have really dumb reasons to kick ppl off the site.
Jul-10-08   metatron2: <zoat22: <metatron2> Sure, I'm free on the weekend, although Saturday is probably better for me.> OK lets talk tomorrow evening (GMT), if i won't need the saturday round to qualify FICS blitz finals then i can play, otherwise, we'll need to set another date.
Jul-11-08   metatron2: OK <zoat22>, i don't have that FICS finals tomorrow, it seems that i had a big mix up in translating FICS server dates. in any case 3 0 is too fast for me, i can play some very good games there, but in many cases i don't have enough time to finish the work. btw i think u could have been a serious contender to win that FICS championship if u played, u r one of the fastest players i ever seen..

anyways, what about tomorrow 18:30 GMT?

madlydeeply: Hey Zoat! just a little good natured discussion about your list...I'd say Korchnoi has better endings than Benko and Ponomariov! He's my hero.

zoat22: <madlydeeply> Yes I have looked and I see that Korchnoi does play some excellent endgames. I think maybe he does play better than Benko. However, I feel Ponomariov is better than him at the endgame ( and Ponomariov has beaten him in quite a few endings). Check out Ponomariov's win over Moro from the Tal Memorial 2006 or his ending with Van Wely from the first Fide World Cup for samples of his amazing endgame play. I personally believe that either he or Kramnik is the most skilled endgame player alive today
