| you vs yourself: 26...c6 is certainly not an easy move to ignore; it'll be interesting to see kasparov's commentary on this game. This game should be made as an immortal; making kasparov's moves look silly is not an easy task even if you're kramnik! |

| HardBoys: Kramnik does not mention the more obvious 29th move for White of 29 Qd2.
Quite frankly, the move 29 Ra2? just looks like one of those moves that a strong player will play to confuse the issue when he knows he's losing, because he knows that the 'normal' move (29 Qd2) will be more expected, and will lose (as it does).
Yet how easy is this? It's easy for the two K's, apparently, perhaps so much so that Kramnik didn't even bother to mention it (altho people have different annotating styles). 29 Qd2 Qh1+ 30 Ke2 Rxe4+! (This is needed, since if 30...Qg2+ 31 Ke3! )
31 Re3 (Forced; 31 Be3? Qg2+ 32 Rf2 Qxf2+! wins)
The irritating point now is 31...Rxe3+? 32 Qxe3 Qxa1 33 Qe6+!, when WHITE mates!
I finally found the right move: 31...Qh5+!! 32 Kf1 Qxg5, which finally appears to be sufficiently roasting: 33 Ke2? Bf4! (Ugh!) - or
33 Re2! (notice that this is still not easy!) 33...Qf5+!.
Two moves now: 34 Kg1 Rd4! (simpler than 34...Rxe2) 35 Re3 Rxd3! winning the knight, while leaving White's queen on d2. Of course, 34...Rg4! was also quite strong.
Or 34 Kg2 Rd4! 35 Re3 Bc6+!! (The nicest win) 36 Kxg3 Rg4+ 37 Kh2 Rh4+ ;
mate next with Rh1 mate or Rh3 mate!
Also 36 Kg1 Qh3! wins handily as well. |

| Jim Bartle: 21-year-old "old Kramnik."
You probably the meant "the old fighting Kramnik," and I'll have to agree. |

| Bufon: Kramnik crushed here Kasparov, what a brilliancy game, this is the Kramnik i like. |

| Kaspablanca: Was this game that made Kramnik a contender to beat Kasparov for a potential WC match among them? |

| alphastrike20: 36.Bf6 Bxd3+ 37.Ka2 Bb1+!! 38.Qxb1 Rd2+ 39.Qb2 Qxb2# |

| Guepardo: <This is supposedly the 11th best game ever in the history of chess> A fantastic game, but i woudnt put him in the 20 best. |

| Slink: From page 1: <Also, many Americans misuse this adjective as a plural noun = "My class is full of ignorants" instead of "ignorami" like you suggested.> For the record, <tpstar>, the English word 'ignoramus' derives from the first person plural present tense indicative form of the Latin verb 'ignorare', thus literally translating as 'we don't know'. If used as an English noun, 'ignoramus' therefore cannot be inflected as though it were a Latin noun. With all due respect, <tpstar>, the plural you suggest is incorrect. But pretty hilarious. |

Many of his old games were like this... |

| iccsumant: Did Kramnik actually attack like that? Why is Kasparov making everybody become tigers? First time I've seen Kramnik playing like this. From a cool player to Michael Tal! Wonderful! |

| KamikazeAttack: Seen this game mant times and I am still in awe. Kramnik was just 21 when he gave Kasparov this mother of all beatdowns. No doubt Kaspy didn't sleep well that nite. |

| Riverbeast: What goes around comes around...Kasparov was on the receiving end of the beatdown this time...a taste of his own medicine |

| mistreaver: i wonder what would all "Drawniks" have to say here |
|
Oct-20-08 |
| Ladolcevita: Why people just judge a person only by a game?
I admit Anand is in the better place this match, but Kramer is not that bad,and deserves that infamy.
I never particularly prefer someone, but i feel i need to say some words for him.He is at least playing better than some big mouths. If he is not able to qualified for a WC game, then how is you able to qualified for judging on him? |
|
Oct-20-08 |
| Aspirador: It is undeniable though that his style of playing has changed since this game. It's 12 years ago. |
|
Oct-20-08 |
| Ladolcevita: Well,it doesnt make any sense...... |
